re: Would you consider 21-10 14-4 Number 1 seed in SEC tourney a success?

At this point 21-10 (14-4) is something every Tiger fan would love to see. That'd mean finishing 5-1.
But, at the beginning of the year, most Tiger fans would have expected fewer than double-digit losses heading into the SECT.
So, a success? Overall going into the year, meh. But, from where we came? Absolute.
That A&M win was huge. Lose that, and LSU is sitting at an ugly 15-10 overall record and 5th seed in SECT. Things get very dicey for LSU at that point, despite what the non-stop-sunshiners say.
As it stands, LSU is the #1 seed in SECT and we have big games with Bama, f.u., and UK left. And non-gimme games @Ark and @Tenn. Really, there is only 1 SEC game that is a gimme for LSU. So, LSU finishing 5-1 would be very, very good. Probably enough to tie UK overall unless one of those wins is in Lexington.

After Thursday, UK's schedule is rough: @ A&M, Bama, @ Vandy, @ Florida, LSU. Really, the only good SEC team they avoid in that stretch is Georgia (who they tend to destroy anyway). Kentucky is good. They might be starting to peak right now, but it's still hard to see them getting through that slate without at least 1 loss (possibly more).
IMO, 13-5 would get LSU a share of the SEC title. The down side is that it may very well be a 4 way tie with UK, USC, A&M and LSU. 14-4 almost assuredly puts LSU at the top of the SEC (though it still could conceivably be a 3 way tie)

A&M isn't going to sniff a 13-5 SEC final record. Not even close.
Maaaybe, USCe. Maybe. They have 2 gimme games, which is better than LSU and UK. And their toughest games left are at home. If they get that LSU game officiating crew for every game here on out they'll win the national title.
I still think it is an LSU/UK battle now.

13-5 would require them beating UK and Vandy at home. Aside from that they play Ole Miss and MSU at home. Their only two road games are at Mizzou and Auburn. A&m probably wasn't as good as their early SEC record indicated, but I don't think they are as bad as the last 5 SEC games might suggest. They lost those last 5 SEC games, but you have to remember that 4 of those 5 were on the road, and the only home game was against a good South Carolina team. I'd be shocked if A&M is not at least 12-6 in conf. play when it's all said and done.
Unfortunately, it's also hard to see South Carolina losing again until maybe the final game at Ark.

21-10 and 14-4
if you told me that preseason i would say, either the SEC sucks, and/or we are progressing rapidly as a team and getting better.
I'd love a sec title, but it means nothing to me if you lose the first game of the tourney.
A successful season to me is a at bare minimum, winning the first game of the tourney, and winning the second game if it's against someone we should beat. Now if we are a 7-10 seed, and matched up against UNC or something like that, i can accept a good showing in a loss in the second round.
