We just wouldn't be in, nothing to do with politics.

Politics? We lost 3 games lol. Were the highest ranked 3 loss team.

Also with the way the automatic bids work we would need more help than we can get to get a slot.

No.. as of now, we would be looking in and most likely be on the outside with the G5 automatic qualifier.

Currently, we would be the 2nd team out. Tulane would take Oklahoma's spot and be the 1st team out.

No, we would be screwed by our record. Or our defense more specifically.

No?

As the way it currently sits, the top 11 ranked teams would make the playoff plus the highest ranked group of 5 conference champ which would likely be 22 ranked Tulane.

If they leave it at 6 highest ranked conference champs, with the Pac 12 dissolving, it would likely mean that the top 10 would be in plus 2 conference champs that likely won’t be in the top 10. AAC (Tulane) plus Oregon St or Liberty.

So going forward, we would essentially need to be ranked in the top 10 to get in the playoffs

I’m not sure if they’ve announced the exact criteria for choosing the 12 teams—I’m pretty sure they haven’t—but LSU is the 5th SEC team this year. Behind Georgia, Bama, Missouri, and Ole Miss. Can’t imagine they’ll have 5 teams from 1 conference yet.

No. In case you missed it, we are currently ranked in the college football playoff rankings at #13, so we would be outside of the top 12. Each team that is playing for their respective conference championship is playing an extra game.

Next year will change a lot of things. As it sits now, 2 losses in the SEC will get you in (don’t see teams running the gauntlet as much) with a great SOS. I think that’s why we are seeing a lot of teams schedule pretty tough OOC next year.

I think we are overlooking the $$$ factor. If you don’t think the “committee” will consider the venue and how much money they can grab, we haven’t been paying attention. LSU definitely makes the top 12…. Take it to the bank.

Even if we were #12, it’s not just gonna be the top 12.

The fact that Tulane and Penn St would be in is still a joke
LSU gets no benefit from playing FSU
A 2 loss LSU is likely in but a 3 loss LSU because they played FSU is likely out

No we aren’t

They have set criteria…

The 6th highest ranked conference champions then the next 6 highest ranked teams. The only thing that may change is going down to 5 conference champs and 7 at larges/ highest ranked teams since the pac 12 is dissolving.

You will need to be ranked in the top 10/11 to make the playoffs

Historically the top 3 loss team in the country meets next year's playoff bid system. Often times 2 3-loss teams would get in the new playoff system based on ranking alone.

This is just a really weird year where there's 14 P5 teams with 2 or less losses heading into championship weekend and will be 12-14 2 loss teams post championship weekend. All of which are either ranked higher than us this week, or would have to win their championship game to stay 2 losses or less, which means they got an autobid anyways.
