Would we be better with Hilliard and Copeland at fullback

With Hill looking like he is going to be a pretty good RB would it help the team to have Hilliard shift to FB?
I would like to see him and Copeland split time. It would give Copeland some rest and provide us with a few more options out of the backfield. It would give Hilliard more play time and RB position would still have Ware, Hill and Ford.
Imagine short yardage situations with Ware at QB, Hill at RB and Hilliard at FB. You have an option in play, screen to RB or FB. Power play up middle with FB blocking. Quick hitter with FB running the ball. What does everyone think?

Idk if you noticed, but there are several one-back sets, which Copeland gets his rest in.

Nah Hilliards still a good back. Just going through a rough stretch.

In short yardage situations, I want JC in the game. Giving him a rest here and there isnt a bad thought though...

Also our backup FB has seemed to do well when Copeland is out getting a breather. Neighbors?

Hillard is a HB. Just because he is a little bigger doesnt mean he has to play FB...
He is a HB PEOPLE!

Hilliard needs to be more aggressive at the point of attack and get through the line faster. he needs to deliver the blow when he meets contact. Ford is far more physical than Hilliard is. he should no longer be getting goal line carries

I say we put Shep at QB, with Ware, JC, and Hill behind him. line up in the I-bone, Dinardo style.

Agree with all points being made. Copeland is a beast, backup FB is doing a good job. But, I do think it would help us in the red zone and give Hilliard more touches--even if he is a RB.

Agreed. When Neighbors has been in, he's killed people.

Kenny actually did some good things at FB last yr. like the block on Ford's near-TD vs. Bama in OT, and the TD he caught vs. UGA. kinda thought we'd see either him or Ware at FB a few times by now just to get a lotta weapons on the field.
but Neighbors is the better blocker, and we're bout this bullyball.

Agreed. He had one very nice run later in the game that I recall, but the other backs are doing better right now. He seems to be running into a sophomore slump like Ware did last year.

Yes we are. It just came as a bonus that Copeland has developed as a runner too.

Neighbors is coming along and I think he's earned the PT when Copeland isn't in. Hilliard has already lost weight to play running back. He doesn't look 100% healthy the last couple of games, but he's still the team's leading rusher, and has rushed for 6 touchdowns.

Neighbors looked phenomenal Sat. I am a JC fan, but seems he is so quick to the hole alot of times defenders scrape behind him to get a piece of the ball carrier.

Hilliard doesn't have the violence to play FB...great runner, but hopefully Sat night showed the staff that he should not be the short yardage back.

I thought he looked okay as an option at FB last year, and was surprisingly physical at around 240. However, I agree that, for whatever reason, he is not getting the tough, short yards right now. If it's health - let him get healthy. If it's weight, let him gain some weight back. We saw flashes of it last year and this year - he can be a great back in our system and play on Sundays.

Hilliard is definitely big, but really physical? Not so much. People have trouble tackling him bc he's so big, but not bc he's all that physical. I notice he leans into tacklers instead of punishing them. In the SC game he had a perfect opportunity to punish a corner going up the sideline and tried to juke him, then leaned into the tackle. He coulda punished that guy.

I meant last year - there's no question that, while more elusive in his running style (at least earlier in the year, which is why I suspect he's nursing an injury), his weight loss is noticeable in the violence he's not bringing this year, and again, even more noticeable the past 2 to 3 games. He's listed at 231, which was probably the August weigh-in, so he's probably at around 226 to 228 right now. Last season at this time, he was probably 235. I think he misses that weight in the trenches.
