I think everyone who has a bad freshman year should be finished. No way he could improve.

JJ is a sack machine. He had more sacks last year than Lee.
No, he didn't. Lee had 10, Jefferson 9 (incl. 2 in the bowl game win).
While you do cite some valid examples, "at some point you gotta see the handwriting" on your own posts.

That's not it at all. It's because YOU PLAY TO WIN THE GAME. You are advocating playing an inferior player over a superior one in a close, SEC game for the sole purpose of preparing for something that may never even happen anyway.
Props to Carl for channeling his inner Herm Edwards...And thanks for putting into perspective what LSU's options are right NOW.

That doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.
Oh, don't you worry, you're going to get empty-calorie "arguments" from lots of Ranters that don't allow common sense (or facts) get in the way of a good story (or post)...

Wanna know why all these teams above up keep losing, and LSU never moves up in the BCS? Look no further than our offensive leader. Because its not our defense.
Do you dismiss, seriously, the notion that maybe LSU is 9th in the BCS standings because teams 1-7 are undefeated and Oregon is at No. 8 (with only one loss, to No. 7 Boise State)?

We have two quartebacks on our team right now that I think we can win a championship with. The one that I think could win a Heisman is on the bench.
We have a "Heisman" winner on the bench??!!
You're talking about Billy Cannon taking a rest before he was honored at TS, right? Please say it's that, or the meds aren't working, locusts, whatever.

(To be a back up like Matt Cassel u would first have to have a starting QB like Tom Brady and Jordan Jefferson will never be a good qb.) This bolds well for Lee.
First, its bodes.
Second, you just proved you have to put one down, to lift the other up... _________________________
Uh, third, "its" it's.

i would hate to see an arm like JL get wasted away on the bench. He could be a high draft pick if he gets playing time under the right system.
F'ing tards.

Let's see ... we're playing Alabama for probably the SEC West Championship.
Last year, in a close game, Jarrett Lee threw four interceptions, including a pic six.
And some folks are on here saying the coaching staff should go out of the way to give JL significant playing time?
::LOUD BUZZER:: WRONG!!!

JL will transfer to an FCS school, light it up and spend about 3-4 years as a professional clip board holder. Much better than most!
And that will likely be more than Jefferson does at the NFL level.
Didn't Craig Nall hang around the league the longest of the class he came in with? Not sure, but I think he did.

Tell the whole story here if you are not afraid to.
The first int hit d byrd in the numbers. Further, c mitchell dropped an easy sideline first down reception which gave bama the ball w/ good field position. Then a perfectly thrown pass was dropped by c mitchell that would have been a td.
Add to that, in OT, when the running game produced 7 yds on first down, why throw at that point? You've got 2 downs to get the first and the key in ot is to definitely get points. That was a stupid call.
Regardless of what you lee haters think, he was not treated as a freshman qb. He was expected to make big time upperclassman type throws and far more often than not he did!
Did J Lee blame anybody after the bama game? No. He pretty much took the blame for the entire season last year. And your coach les miles was more than happy to lay last year's failures on JLee even though his dual dc experiment was the real reason that last year was a debacle. That defense w/ basically the same talent, maybe less, is playing world's different than last year.
Give JLee '08 the '09 defense and we probably would have gone to the SECCG, or 10-2 at worst.
You people who want to blame JLee for last season are sad pathetic individuals. Oh, and I'll add the coaching staff to that list last year. Les refused to throw his buddies malveto under the bus for last year's failures but was all to eager to let Lee take all the blame.
This young man was highly highly recruited and he chose LSU. He has all american, nfl talent and you pathetic losers are all to eager to throw him away and continue to bash him.
I hope he does transfer. He's got too much class for you losers.

I actually enjoy these "Lee is the best eva" and "Lee wuz done wrong" threads. It brings a little entertainment value to othewise slow times (ie: off weeks, Tulane weeks). Just the pure mental contortions involved are probably good for a term paper for some sociology students.
But then it always tends to devolve into name calling ... "pathetic losers", "assholes", etc. etc. It does tend to get a little embarsing with a big game with national implications less than a week away.
Ah, well, might as well sit back and enjoy anyway.

Well spoke. But I hope he don't transfer, because WHEN Jefferson does get hurt (this is the SEC, he will)...then where would that leave us. We need a quality backup. Lee is that. Good guy too. But he needs to follow his own heart, and do what is best for Lee.

If he does, it'll be to the east SC, Ky or Vandy.

Then why do Peyton Manning and Drew Brees stay in games well into the 4th quarter with their team clearly winning? Aren't their backups also 1 play away from being full-time starters. shite, do any NFL starters EVER come out of a game unless they're up by 30 in the last 2 minutes? And I'm quite sure they don't need the reps as much as our 19-year-old true SO does. Your backup gets reps in practice and blowouts--that's it.
You also have to understand the structure of NFL contracts and how "playing time" kicks in leading to extra bonuses and incentives.

The comeback that JL led for the Troy game.

23 sacks and 20+ three and outs, also cut down on the number of plays LSU has run. JJ is a sack machine.
Of course JJ has contributed to running fewer plays. But you are mistaking my argument. I am not arguing for Jefferson to start over Lee. Just that since he already IS starting, he needs all the reps he can get so that he--and our offense--can continue to develop.
quote:
The freshman QB from Tulane in his 2nd start, playing against the #15th ranked LSU defense threw for more yards than JJ did against the 114th ranked D.
Yeah, and we also had about 300 yards rushing to their 25. And 42 points to their 0. I'm pretty sure the object of the game is not to see who's QB throws for the most yards.
quote:
Crowton didnt go vanilla with Lee, even when he struggled last year.
Are you such a simpleton that run = vanilla and pass = complex? Yes, Lee threw more last year than JJ has this year, but it's because we trailed almost all of last year, while we have been leading almost all of this year.
quote:
Miles is playing not to lose
This is a fair criticims. In his defense though, we almost never lose.
quote:
And our 7 wins? They have come against teams that have lost 67% of the games when playing BCS conf teams.
Well, we've only played 8 games. Try as you might, I'm not sure we can blame ol' Les for Georgia and Auburn having down years.
