What I am sure of...is our subsequent head coach, Bill Lewis, made history by allowing us to compile the worst four year record following a national title in college football history.
I hate to take solace in your bad luck, but it does help. Thanks.

wish I could say it was bad luck...but Bill Lewis worked awfully hard to screw up a good thing. Fortunately it only took O'Leary two full seasons to straigten out the mess.
Bill Lewis...the classic "young coach at a smaller D1 school to have a big year" and then get hired by a BCS conference with tons of hoopla...only to fall flat on his face.

C'mon now, if you had tons of hoople, you'd fall too. Maybe not flat on your face, but definetly a fall. Because hoople is not the easiest thing to have on you, it's all greasy and crappy.
Now if he had tons of hooplah, then I can see your problem with him.

Who cares? Last year there was this team a couple of states over that finished 6-6 and lost to ULM. They did much better this year.

Probably, since 2007 LSU is widely considered the worst NC ever.

Are they going to revoke our championship over this? If not, I really wouldn't worry about it.

Are you trying to say this season was disappointing...?

who cares, we will be back

But if you were "the best defending runner ups" that means you'd be the runner ups the previous season, and National Champs the next, instead of National Champs, then 7-5.
(I was being a smartass with the "why".

7-5 stinks and should have been 9-3 (Bammer, Arky). But it could have been much worse (Aub, Troy).
Let's move on.
Truth and wisdom right there.

Why....and by whom? The media?

All the more reason for the idiot Ranters who bitched about not being ranked #1 pre-season because we were the defending champion....
that would've been even worse now, wouldn't it, smart-asses??

To clarify, GT was 7-5 in the regular season in 1991, then won the bowl game. So LSU could post exactly the same record as GT.
But GT was a freak MNC. LSU is a consistent power.
BTW just from an outsider's viewpoint the idea that LSU 07 was a weak MNC team is ludicrous.
LSU played a monster schedule in the toughest year for the SEC in my memory, crushed a good VT team OOC and then crushed the only 1-loss BCS team in the title game. Very strong statements. LSU lost two games in overtime -- which means pre-1995 y'all would've been 12-0-2. Noone could possibly have complained about that record.
BYU in 1984 has no close contenders for weak MNC in the modern era. The most undeserved was the one Colorado split with GT in 1990 -- b/c of the 5th down they were really a 9-2-1 team.
