I’m in. It won’t go anywhere but it can drag out for a while. I’m sure Petino or Coach K would pay for his lawyers though.

Agree 100% and said the same thing the other day. I know he is a talking head and they get some slack especially since this is Dicks MO and he is a loudmouth anyway but at some point you have to draw a line in the sand.
Especially if kids and other media outlets start listening and paying attention to said loudmouth.
We have enough powerful attorneys to shut that guy up throw a C&D at him.

You are as farsighted as the OP. The facts about the case are horrible for LSU. From those facts, the unbiased observer would conclude that LSU is cheating like crazy. LSU would be dragged through the mud, publicly. And for what? Nothing! LSU would lose the case. As a government institution LSU has zero protection from libel. Think about it. The judgement would be affirming that you can't criticize your government or its employees.
BTW, I sure wish I had seen the first reply. It must have been a doozy!

1) I’m not sure anything Vitale said falls under the legal standard for libel.
2) I am 100% sure you don’t want your Athletic Director lowering himself to get into some silly war with an 80-year-old dinosaur.
3) It wouldn’t be Woodward suing anyway

All of this...and Dick is making himself look bad enough as is. He's already been lampooned by many of his peers on the media for his defense of Pitino and the hypocrisy therein...this will make it worse. What little credibility he had is gone.

You have to prove damages for libel to be a thing. Being butthurt isn’t a bonafide damage.

This and to prove damages you may have to open the books at TAF and I am sure LSU does not want that to happen.
Whatever happened to the days when someone would say something negative about you and you would just not care and move on? This get upset at every little slight towards you is the reason our country is being torn apart right now. You want to be successful you will have naysayers.
