re: With this defense, MVB would just need to be average

MVB is more suited to the current style of offense Sloan and BK want to run.
For Nuss and our O-Line, a Les Miles offense would probably be better. Get under center and stop having the running back take the ball 5 yards deep waiting for a hole to open up that never does.
100% truth

My upvote brought it from 6 to 7.

And we are in the playoff
Consider the level of QB play you are talking about.
Then, ask yourself, which is more likely to happen. Nuss plays at that level moving forward...or MVB does?
FYI, Nuss was being asked to do A LOT MORE than being average to beat Ole Miss.

This is so eerily similar to 2023, and we’ll be crying for years about how we would’ve easily won a national title in 2023 and in 2025 had Brian Kelly simply made the changes that hundreds of thousands of fans saw needed to be made but he was too stubborn to admit there was a problem.
What are you referring to in 2023?

What changes during the 2023 season could BK have made that would have easily lead to a national championship?
The Matt House debacle could've been nipped in the bud halfway through the season and could've given us a simple average defense and we'd have probably gone undefeated.

You think if LSU would have fired Matt House in the middle of the season they would have easily won the national championship?

And we are in the playoff. We don’t need a JD or JB just need someone to effing throw a deep ball and pull a read option.
Average MVB is:
According to 2024 stats: 54.7% comp, 221 yds/gm passing, 1.29TD/0.82INT per game, 3.18 sacks, and 8 carries for -1.6yds/game
If you looked at his half of playing SLU and adjusted for the full game, his stats would approximately be 250yds passing, 35-40yds rushing. Again though, this is a D2 school that was getting beat by 40 when he came in the game.
There is nothing about his objective stats that would suggest him being his average would be better than Nuss right now and a fair bit that suggests he would be worse.
The QB isn't the issue, the OL is.

You do realize that is exactly what Nuss has been? He is currently ranked 7th out of 15 QBs for Total QBR in the SEC. If the Defense hadn't extended some drives in the 2nd half and failed to stop Ole Miss from running the clock out, then LSU very well might have won that game.

Nuss hasn’t been able to throw over the top and his passes have no zip. He has no ability to pull the read. He’s making bad reads, almost guessing.
MVB stats are a true freshman and are misleading considering sack yardage is subtracted from rush yards and the team he had surrounding him. If you watch the game at Ga you can tell the kid can play.
Having average running ability vs none at all changes everything about this offense.
