You people need to get out more. The PMAC is actually one of the nicer bball facilities out there. Go to some of the top basketball venues in the country and you'll be shocked at how run down they are compared to it.

That said, I'm all about following in Ole Miss and Auburn's footsteps and building a state-of-the-art arena.

What does that even mean? Can you sit in it and watch a basketball game? People and their ideas of "outdated" are getting ridiculous. The only thing the PMAC needs is a winning basketball program.

THANK YOU!!!
"this is outdated" "that is outdated" "everything is outdated"
It's TWO HOURS out of one's life, per instance. Certainly we can sit in fairly comfortable, padded seating to watch a sporting event for two hours?

Does it have rest rooms with flush toilets? Are they kept even moderately clean?

New scoreboards....can you read the score and the clock? Yes? Done. Ribbon boards? So they can advertise at you more? So you watch the ribbon boards instead of the game? Why go? You can watch commercials on TV at home. Like commercials get AT&T uVerse, they have a hundred channels that are just shopping or info-mercials. Problem solved, and let basketball fans go support the team and watch basketball.

What the hell more do we really need???

I've been/worked at all of the SEC gyms aside from the Pavilion at OM. The only gyms in the SEC that are definitively worse than the PMAC are Memorial and Stegeman. That's taking into consideration locker rooms, media rooms, etc (total picture).

Even older places like The Hump, Coleman, etc. are spacious and have nicer fan amenities and are more comfortable than the PMAC. Again - I am not with the crew that wants to doze and start over, but we need a smart influx of cash right now to get up to snuff. Alot of the behind the scenes stuff (locker room, training room, practice gym, etc) is done, now we need to get into the main bowl.

I sort of understand where you're coming from, but with that line of thinking why should LSU invest in anything?

For season ticket holders, although it's just 2 hours per game, it's still a decent annual expense. Don't they have the right to get some return on their investment? I don't think anyone on this thread is asking for anything for free. It's no different than any other seller/buyer interaction.

There's gonna be a gigantic scoreboard installed before next season and attendance has been trending down so it's not like the AD doesn't give a shite about basketball.

But realistically, how soon are we expecting all of this new stuff?

Level the PMAC so they can expand Tiger Stadium's North endzone

I don't think fixing the PMAC would be that much of an issue. Start with the number of seats, do you really need 13,000 seats? Pull the seats out, make the seating arrangement sit a little more on top of the court, add some courtside seating, etc.

Fix the knee issue. It's very uncomfortable for someone like myself who is on the taller side. Nearly impossible to let someone get out of the row.

Have some premium seating, maybe the "premium" seats could be a little more spacious in terms of foot space and just the seats being wider in general. Cup holders obviously.

I'd also like to see them do something with the outdated doors in the concourse. Make it to where you can see the court from the concourse.

With the crowd that hangs out on these boards, you're gonna have to adjust your definition of "realistic".

Personally though, if LSU would announce a multi-year project that takes care of a couple things per offseason over 3-5 years, that would be great.

It's really not an aesthetically pleasing building

It's a damn flying saucer. However, there's really no justification for replacing it. Unless TAF can do it without taxpayer money being used.

I just want to make sure that Dale Brown, Collis Temple, and Johnny Jones has zero access to the new coach. Put the past in the way, way past now.

Exactly, and the kicker is the cost.

I want to know what would we be getting for $100 million that we don't already have, and is it really worth it just to "update" for the sake of updating.

Where does gymnastics, volleyball, and women's basketball play if the PMAC were to be demolished?

A more likely scenario is that they just build a new complex somewhere elsewhere and keep the PMAC. With the gymnastics facility and basketball facility being next to it/built onto it, it would make it very inconvenient for it to be demolished.

I'm not sure there is much than can do about the configuration of the bowl. This is a poured-in-place structure, with concrete rows of a certain depth. To get more knee room, they would need to create deeper rows. How would that be done? Can the whole setup be demo'd and re-poured? I don't know. Need architects or engineers to chime in.

If the configuration works out (I'm having a hard time seeing it) you can install foam blocking (to reduce the weight) and pour new concrete over it.

In one of the threads in the lead up to the Wade hiring there was a post saying that part of the negotiations regarded "facilities upgrades" or something like that.

Anybody know if the final deal with Wade maybe included an agreement by LSU to do some upgrades? And if so, what the extent of them are?

Might have told him they would install a new scoreboard.....and just left the part about it being in the works for the past year and half out of the conversation.

It's about cost-benefit. Is it really worth a HUNDRED MILLION dollars just so the arena is aesthetically pleasing when the lights come on?

The next thing you know people will be saying, "Gee, Tiger Stadium is so old and outdated, we should tear it down and build a new one that looks nice and is 'up-to-date'."

Yeah - I'm anti a $100M project. If I alluded to that above, than I apologize.
