I just don't think he's as good as you guys think. I'm not saying he's a bad receiver, he's just not some dynamic playmaker.
He is solid and proven and a guy that will block downfield.

Let's not disrespect and all time great in Mason Taylor. Nobody made bigger catches or had better hands on the team.

He's gone.
Lsu will replace him with 2 better receivers

He's visiting Auburn, Georgia, Ole Miss, Georgia Tech, and Miami, he aint coming back. And we should not want him coming back if we pull in the guys we are after in the portal.

He's definitely a complete WR, and he's very good blocker. He seems to be a do everything right type of player. It's nice to have those guys around.

He’s not, but he is a complete WR, and that is worth something. In case you weren’t aware, he lead the WRs in snap counts by far before he was injured. He was well ahead of even Lacy. That’s because of his run blocking and that he doesn’t make mistakes. He’s also one of our few physical WRs and can make difficult catches in traffic. Kelly also mentioned that they would move him around to different spots because he knew all of the routes and was versatile.

It just didn't pan out for him here. I'm sure his first catch at his next stop will be a TD

I just feel like he is a very solid receiver and it also seemed like our offense ran a little smoother when he was able to be in there playing his role. Look at all the schools that are interested in him? Those are all some heavy hitters. They know how good he is too.

Daniels was probably a 250-300K portal guy last season, it may be that LSU is not willing to pay him that much again for next year, and he is hoping to not take a pay cut.
The figure is closer to $350k - $400k, please see attached article. $300k cash + car + apartment.
LSU Sportswire
"Per Dellenger, Chadwell claimed that LSU paid Daniels $300,000 to come to Baton Rouge while also paying for both a car and an apartment."

what part of he was a top 3 paid player last year......and we are refusing to pay him that again this year do yall not understand?
we brought him here based off previous production at a lower level and at this level he cant produce the numbers that justify that kind of salary.
this isnt 2019 anymore, we have roster decisions we have to make based off NIL. If CJ wants to come back at a pay cut...great if not...we can find plenty of possession receivers for less.
he produced exactly zero points directly himself.....at some point if we are pay for play.....that has to matter.

Daniels is a solid WR, and would probably start day 1 in 2025 looking only at what we have right now, disregarding potential portal acquisitions. But he’s not so much better than the guys we already have, let alone the guys we’re already chasing in the portal, that we need to spend top dollar to keep him.
This is basically what you hope the portal is for in 2025. Teams with a lot of solid options at a position let some of those options walk and upgrade elsewhere. The guys who walk get more money and playing time than they otherwise would. The school they walked from upgrades. Win-win.
If we bust in the portal it’s a problem… but the problem is busting in the portal, not declining to spend a lot of money on marginally above replacement level talent.
TLDR it would be nice to keep him, but Daniels will probably make more money elsewhere, and LSU can probably get better receivers for the cash they’d have to spend to keep him.

The guy does the most important thing and thats catch the football. Probably has the least amount of drops all season.

Makes sense, that's about the going rate.
