Why do so many of us have such high expectations for this year? What about last years season has you thinking this year will be different? Qb play is in the exact same position as last year and doesn't seem to be getting any better. It's obvious that Brandon Harris hasn't figured it out or he would have won the qb position this past spring. I hope Im wrong by all means. I hope BH figures it out and is the next coming of Zack Mettenburger (sp?). Just curious on what people are expecting this football season. Geaux Tigers

I'm hoping to see a better D-line so that the defense doesn't have to blitz to get pressure. I know that the offense is going to primarily run the ball but can we do it out of multiple formations. I'm also hoping to see less formations with a tight end.

We return both signal callers and every pass catcher.

Improvement is certain.

Why do you say BH hasn't figured it out yet? What if AJ and BH have both gotten better and the competition is fierce.

Unless we are close to the program, we don't really know what is happening. Some say the Spring Game is a measure but I wouldn't put much stock in that. I was at the OSU Spring Game and their fans were trashing Cardale Jones for his performance.

Why am I optimistic?

1. Running backs
2. Wide receivers
3. Chavis is gone
4. Secondary
5. O line

Oh, so because Miles didn't name him the starter immediately after the Spring game (which he's never done) it's clear he hasn't figured it out? That's what you're basing this on?

Oh, you're trolling. Got it.

He's not trolling, just 12 years old and can't use a search engine.

Because young players typically do improve.

Because we likely have first round picks at every position except QB:

-Secondary: Jamal Adams
-Linebacker: Kendall Beckwith
-D-Line: Davon Godchaux
-O-LineL: Hawkins, Pocic, or Alexander
-Running Back: Fournette
-Wide Receiver: Dural or Dupre

The thought is that if Harris plays to his potential then this team is loaded enough to make some noise. The big question mark is Harris. I'm hoping he steps up, but I acknowledge that if he doesn't we could be 8-5 again since QB is most important position on field.

with uncertainty on defense, and the poor quarterback play that we've seen in the past, I can understand why, but I have hopes they might surprise me.

People just can't understand why BH was not a superstar straight out of high school.
And I just don't understand why Les would not declare a starter in the spring. We'd be so much better off if Jennings confidence was crushed even more than it already is. Crazy??

It is STUPID that fans had these expectations of Harris. False hope to think that a true freshman could come in and be the savior, and ridiculous to give up on him before he even gets a chance to show what he learned in ONE SEASON.

Tiger fans have high hopes because we are stacked with talent. Screw Pollard and Finebaum and whomever else is not giving LSU love. Tigers can earn respect in Death Valley when Auburn comes to town. When Gus and Boom go back with tails tucked, you'll be hearing how LSU is projected to win the SEC.

How'd you like to be Dak Prescott this year?? He sure got a lot of love . . .

Keep calm and Geaux Tigers!

the expectations are set too high bc when miles loses a game or two they can call for his job.

this is the same mindset that thinks we are equal to Alabama in recruiting every yr. it's either willful ignorance or intentional in order to point out coaching shortcomings bc it obviously can't be the talent or execution on the field. coaching has to be the only factor.

realistically speaking, LSU has a good chance to be very good this year. but a slim chance to be great imo. big question marks at QB, DL, and the new defense/DC in general. maybe it will work in our favor. LSU seems to do well the lesser the expectations.

Matt Flynn was a 7th Rd. Pick and Zack Mettenburg was a 6th Rd. Pick....

Threads like this are why the off season is unbearable.

I meant that our QB play is an issue, not that we need a 1st round pick at that spot.

Hell, I don't care if our current QBs are ever drafted, I just want them to be able to consistently complete a forward pass.

Nonsense. Nobody is calling for Les' job if he goes 11-1 or 10-2. Nobody.
