Martin really didn't turn it on until the last 1/2 of the season and was a no show still, in some of those games.
What games were those? He was only a "no show" if he was in foul trouble.
He was pretty damn consistent down the stretch

This is why it's so difficult to be anything more than a casual college basketball fan. It's hard to support players when they only use the system as a springboard to the NBA. There's no reason to even learn their names anymore. You might as well just refer to them by their jersey number.
It's funny how our football QB needs three seasons to learn how to throw a pass but we'll go through several recruiting cycles and early departures in less than two years in basketball.
Thank GOD we have quality college baseball!
Solid melt, sir.

Quarterman's problem is consistency. He can be fantastic or mediocre. He still looks very thin and frail and get's banged up a lot. He looks tired all the time which to give him his due is because he hustles harder than anyone on the team except for Hornsby.
I would also like him to improve on his ball handling and decision making. He goes out of control on occasion. But hey he is a damn good ball player, no doubt about that.
But most people have noticed by now that most of our opponents have some good ball players also. We need players to step up and be consistently great next year, not just good.

The key for teams like LSU who can recruit NBA talent to stay one or two years is always keep a nucleus of players who can stay four years.
Transfers help, but in the long run, it would be nice to have a core of system players, say 8, that stay the four years and mesh with the one and done players.
Project players, like Malone, create real problems if they can't help out until their third of fourth year. If Robinson can help out more his second year than Malone did his second year, that will help this team in 2015 and years to come.
Carrying players who can't help out at all is devastating, for example, Odo. He probably still worked out as an essential practice player, but in the future, we need players who do more than ride the bench.
It is a balancing act that some years may not work out, but with Coach's ability to recruit, we should be ok.

On paper, solid Elite 8, at the worst....

It's too bad Gray was so inconsistent. I think that demoting him from the starting lineup hurt the team in the long run. His minutes were too limited.
BS, if Gray had remained the starter and got the majority of the minutes, we probably would not have made the tournament.
To his credit, he improved later in the season, but as the other poster pointed out, how did he earn the reputation of a great shooter.
If he continues to improve he may prove us wrong. Hope so.

Like a sweet 16 team that will be bounced in the round of 32

Rebuild. And we still need a 1 or two.

Victor will have to come in ready as he will also be relied heavily upon. We can play most of our games with Simmons and Victor down low. Against the teams with solid post players, we are going to need a big that can bang down low with them
C Victor WILL be ready!! he's a taller Mickey with muscle and believe it or not a more explosive leaper than J Martin! He's a tough on ball low post defender with a mean streak! He played with Martin (N O Elite) on AAU circuit and against Ben Simmons, Deangelo Russell and Jalyn Patterson(Monteverde Prep) at Findley Prep! He can also step out and hit jumpers to 12ft. Along with Kelly Oubre considered top player(s) in Louisiana. Mentioned this in another thread!! Don't know him personally, but witnessed quite a few AAU games and a LOT of St Aug games. Agree with you about Robinson. Y'all are gonna be THRILLED!!

do students go to college to bring prestige to the university or to get a job later in life?

If we do not get a center we are in trouble underneath. No, victor is not a center.

If you don't like someone's opinion, feel free to say so. Your reply was just a typical ignorant, immature comment from another young punk popping off like usual on this site.

Young punk???.......I'm 38 guy. Your post is typical from those in your crowd. Its not 1970.....the best players in every sport go when the getting is good........just like you would do if the shoe was on the other foot. Don't be a hypocrite. I'm sorry if it's too complicated for you to remember the players names
Don't say stupid shite and there will be no need to "pop off"
