Wish everyone would totally ignore the AP Poll

It is mostly meaningless, unless you are selling advertisements for games on the 4-letter network and or ABC, cause it has no barely any significance at all otherwise.
LSU fans of all people should ignore the #2 ranking, as AP "national championships" and rankings that are paid attention to only give credence to the USC 2003 NC claims.
Even though the Coaches poll is also BS - with most of the coaches admitting they watch only a tad if any of the games, and delegate their votes to the SID's or some other person - it has meaning since it factors more into the BCS rankings, which should be the only game in town in FBS football.
Just sayin...Be consistent folks.

I ignore all polls until the final few BCS polls come out.

I agree the AP still upsets me. We should refuse the AP trophy if we win it because it lacks legitimacy. That would really put some panties in a bunch.

Not sure if sarcasm but it really isn't a good idea...it would be funny but it would just stir up unneeded shite
I just will never get over 2003

There is no way we would refuse it... Just saying it would be justified

I have been consistent, and the AP is simply the best poll to go by during the regular season.

I suggested that Les do this after the 2007 championship. I hope he gave it to his kids to play with.

I fully realize the last one is the only one that matters but I pay attention to every poll every week including preseason. I love it when we're highly ranked and am pissed when I feel like we're getting jobbed. it adds to my enjoyment of the season when we're highly ranked.

Why is the AP poll so meaningless? The AP poll has been declaring a national champ for 60 or 70 years, and everyone outside of Baton Rouge recognizes the AP champion as a legit national champion.
Ya'll need to just let this go. We won a Championship in 2003 and that's never going to change. Unfortunately, USC won a championship that same year that is also universally (except in BR) recognized, and that's also never going to change.
Just let it go.

The #1 team in the final AP poll is a national champion and is recognized by the NCAA as one of the official champions of that season.
I wish the rant would get over 2003.

2003 has nothing to do with it. The AP deciding they don't want their poll used by anyone else rendered them meaningless.

No poll is perfect. It's components are people, and people are not perfect.
I don't like what the AP Poll did in 2003.
It has some folks whose bias and competence I question. However, it's as good as any other poll. It's composed mostly of people who are competent and relatively unbiased. The biases tend to cancel each other out, and the competent pollsters tends to wash out the incompetent ones.
It's a pretty good barometer to look at. [Note: I don't rely solely on barometers to forecast the weather.]
