How about the tradition of bringing in ranked or blue blood out of conference opponents.
Daddy dale’s Schedule had students camping out.

The did make the small student section at the bottom at mid court and sold middle level tickets to the public. The lower mid court seats stayed empty. That was kind of a last chance for students.

Amen. Craptastic tricks like these work for a teeny-bopper concert. Their lame gimmicks at a college sporting events. The kids like it, that's about it. When were kids the stadium could seem at times like a fearful place of serious competition, though, not Chuck E Cheese.

At the start of each half, the fans should stand and clap synchronously until both teams make a field goal.

I was a freshman fall of 2007. I went for a few reasons, but the free Canes with a Tiger victory was a nice motivation factor. Also, the court side student section with newspapers was fun. The swag giveaways that added up with more games attended was nice too. I think I still have a Nike LSU duffel from that. My dad was a student back in ‘80-‘82 and always talked about how electric the PMAC was. Never really experienced it like he described it, but I always hoped I could. Hope Wade can work with the marketing bozos and get something solid implemented.

The bird box challenge was absolutely horrendous. It seems like we all have these ideas but it’s up to the marketing department/basketball program to actually make this work. I will say that the atmosphere has been better since Johnny Jones was here, but not that much better. One day at a time and hopefully the atmosphere continues to pick up.

Marketing need to fricking read this thread. It's not nearly as hard as they make it out to be.

Step 1: win baby win

The rest of the traditions will follow. Winning is the best tradition a school could have. It’s cooler than anything else they could come up with. IMO.

Now that I’ve stated the obvious, LSU basketball needs the billboards, news coverage, the full 9 yards that football gets. I know BR is a FB town, but if LSU basketball is winning and is being thrown in everyone’s faces, it will eventually stick. Get the PMAC full and loud.

we don’t have any real basketball traditions. We have had some antics that have persisted through successful periods but no real tradition.

With that said, we have the absolute best football traditions and it’s so cool when we incorporate them in to basketball. Without sustained success, anything a marketing team comes up with will be short lived.

Move the press section higher to less desirable seats. Fans in current press seats will make arena louder

Consider this.........................

The atmosphere at LSU football games has been downright laughable the last few years.

The atmosphere at the PMAC for Alabama was a positive sign. Let's win the next two games, the crowd will continue to grow as the victories mount up.

EXACTLY.

I commend Wade for trying to build the program. But all the marketing, promotions, new "traditions" won't mean shite if the team isn't winning.

Dale Brown was a "promoter", but the greatest "promotion" he ever did was turning LSU into a perennial NCAAT team with two Final Four appearances. If Wade starts stringing together winning seasons, the fans will be there and be loud. LSU is not unique in that regard.

I know Wade desperately wants larger, more energetic crowds because he knows the players on the team feed off the energy and recruits want to come to a place where they can also be a part of that excitement. But all the promotions in the world won't do that. Winning will.

If he can navigate this team through a manageable January schedule and have them in the hunt, then mark down 2/9/19 as the date he will have a chance to win over the casual fan when Auburn comes to BR on a Saturday. If he can win that one, then two weeks later Tennessee comes in to BR and the PMAC will be rocking. If he loses, then he's starting all over again...just like when LSU lost in front of a packed house vs. #1 Oklahoma and last year when they lost to Alabama in front of a raucous crowd.

at that moment, let DJ C-mix crank up a song to get people going (he's got a bunch of them). but what did LSU do? they made everyone be quiet for a fricking bird box challenge.

That is the sports world that we live in now, sadly. And there is absolutely no turning back.

Put the student section back on the sideline instead of behind one of the backboards. I remember having to get to the stadium 3-4 hours before a game to make sure you had a seat in the lower bowl.
