On building a program at LSU:

“At VCU, you were just trying to maintain something,” he says. “It’s a lot more fun to build something than maintain something.”

On mimicking Florida’s basketball success as a “football school”:

“I don’t think there’s any reason we can’t do here what Florida’s done with their program,” Wade says. “There’s no difference in what we have and what Florida has. It’s on us to get the job done.”

“We didn’t come here to get participation trophies.”

Also said he plans to add to our sec titles, ncaa tourney appearances and final four appearances. I expect him to do all of those things in the next 3 years then to move on to somewhere else unfortunately

LSU basketball is lucky to have a coach of his caliber after a bleak decade

I've said before that I thought he seemed like the guy that would rather build something and stay at that school instead of leaving to goto a blue blood. Hopefully this quote means that is the case and he intends to stay here for a long time.

Dont speak it into existence. A blue bloods coach would have to get fired or leave for Wade to accept a job at one of them. Coach K ain't leaving, Cal ain't leaving, Izzo aint leaving. Hes building LSU into a powerhouse and he aint leaving. Pay the man. ESPECIALLY if he brings in another awesome class and stays on the path hes on.

I mean i hope we can and do. But he has said it himself, he is a builder, maintaining isnt as interesting for him. Hopefully we can get a solid next 3-5 years out of him

I agree we're lucky to have Will Wade, but it's on Alleva we didn't have a Will Wade type earlier.

I give credit to Alleva on TJ, that seemed a good paper hire. But JJ was a mail in hire. And Alleva really had little to do with Wade hire.

There's no reason he can't recruit blueblood-type recruits to LSU while LSU's pay reflects as such

Eddie Nunez is responsible for Wade coming to LSU.

Alleva can suck a fat one.

By builder he meant he walked into a rebuild. VCU wasn’t a rebuild when he got the job.

The thing is LSU can become a bluebood because of money and resources we have. We aren’t a blueblood but we can compete with the bluebloods. The only teams Wade would leave LSU for would be UK, Duke, UNC, Michigan St, and maybe Michigan. The thing is, none of those teams are going to be looking for a new head coach anytime soon. LSU can match the pay that these other schools would offer. I’m not worried at all about losing Wade and I think he’s the type of guy that if he built something, he would stay here

what would be the point of leaving?

If he makes an Elite Eight or further at LSU in the next couple years I don't see him leaving.

I really hope UCLA doesn't come after him this year. I could easily see Alleva fricking everything up and letting Wade slip away.
