My guess is they let her finish her last year and not renew it after. We probably won’t make the tournament again next year even if Pointer comes back. They will struggle to field a cohesive team anyways from all the attrition. Then they can then move on from her.

I didn’t realize she was in the last year for contract. That all makes sense.

She will be out after next year. LSU doesn't care enough about women's basketball to fire her they'll just let the contract run out

I think given current climate, title IX drama and other issues at LSU, they aren’t gonna buy her out of her last year and just let the clock run out before peacefully parting ways. Unless they had a home run hire in mind but I doubt Scott is gonna do it.
This year honestly would be the perfect time given how big the portal is but it’s not meant to be I guess. I’d rather them get a good hire

Considering all the bad optics around the AD right now, firing her now would invite even more negative press. Even though it would be 100% justified.

It’s sad how bad this women’s basketball program is. Coach Sue Gunter would be very upset and hurt.
I guess though there are only so many dollars to go around at LSU. It’s difficult if not impossible to fully build every sport to elite levels. Woody isn’t giving money away for top elite women coaches.

the only reason she has lasted this long is because nobody cares. womens basketball is an awful product.
