This is one perception that is hurting our conference as a whole. The teams seam to be given an advantage over another and that is taken into account when they vote the following week and then like this week if LSU should win the game they will simply say that Bama was overated and it will not help LSU at all. This nonsense has got to stop. It is just a perception and that is all it is and it is hurting our overall rating has conference. Yes it seems as though the refs are giving preferentual treatment to them but they are not because if you look at the end of the year the calls will breakout even. I have seen some calls go LSU's way also some calls that should have been made and some that should not.

Its not just the SEC, they're claiming that Pac 10, Big X, and Big XII are doing this as well. I dont believe any of it.

Of course. They will subconsciously protect their favorite.

The holding call is the most problematic; I've seen those refs stand right in front of obvious and blatant holding...and let it go. Other times...drop the dirty laundry. Now if that aint ripe for abuse...subjectivity...bias.

Hopefully...high profile criticism...will help to tamp it down. Clean game...best team wins...thats what we all want.

There are two issues which should be broken down seperately:

#1. A historical perceived favoritism of Bama, and

#2. SEC refs protecting the higher ranked team to improve the chances of an SECOND team in the NC.

Seems to me we could argue #1 back and forth without getting anywhere, but there is growing evidence to support #2.

Oh wait, I forgot #3. ESPN hates LSU.

Did you watch the entire Indiana @ Iowa game this weekend? If you did, you would be singing a different tune in this thread.

Need some tin foil hats in this thread.

Through 8 games for each team, Alabama has been penalized two more times than LSU. 5 SEC teams have been penalized less than Alabama.

why wouldn't the ref's call this game fair, the winner of this game proly goes on to the sec champ game and potentially the nc game. The refs were protecting florida 'cause arky and miss state have no shot at anything

What does it matter anyway...USC will still get voted into the NCG to play Texas...

Hoping for a clean game, free of eye-gouging,
players attacking fans, and zebra mutiny.

Millions of new ESPN dollars (from recent contract) in SEC teams hands = the need for the SEC to be a NCAA conference leader and start full time officiating starting next year. These part timers need to get paid 75-85-100K to call games full time and reverse rolls of the part time jobs and full time jobs. FWIW the NFL could follow suit if this done correctly.

This thread is ridiculous. Next time y'all call another team's fans whiners and excuse makers, I'll bump this thread back up. These conspiracy theories are absurd.

Yeah, the 2007 game was a joke, but that team was obviously one of the best teams in LSU's history.

This 2009 team is too inexperienced to overcome a 15-2 penalty ratio. Simple as that.
This doesn't make any sense. By you alls logic, LSU should have gotten all the calls in 07.

I'm not saying there aren't fishy calls in the SEC, I'm just saying I highly doubt that there are secret texts, faxes and conferences from the SEC to the refs on making sure that Bama and Florida get all the calls.

You're right. On a national radio show the other day, they were talking about corrupt SEC Officiating. THe SEC is the best conference in college football, and the officals are tarnishing it.

Why is the perception there then? Sometimes, perception is reality

Grow up!

Also, the Indian/Iowa game was awful. They had things so screwed up agin Indian that it is difficult not to conclude that the fix is IN.
