I'd only accept if it's a home game and MM can personally guarantee we sell enough tix to pay for the PMAC's electricity, concession staffing, etc.

Otherwise it's a waste of money.

The Not Invited Tournament is the perfect spot for McDefeat b/c he'll never get invited to the dance like most of the McMen on this board

They invite teams with a losing record, don't you have to be at least 500 overall. There's no way in hell they get invited.

I’m good with the NIT going into the history books along with about half of the meaningless bowl games.

It’s like scrimmages after the season is over.

was told we actually put in a bid weeks ago to host a first round game.

Why not, we had at least 1500 fans there last time we played in the NIT at home - with a much better team. We'd get at least 750 there this time - just think of the concession sales!!

I thought you had to have a winning record for the Not In Tournament.

The most likely reason that the EPIC FAILURE hasn't been fired yet is because NC state still has games (hopefully only one) left to play.

The two highest metric rated SEC teams that don't make the NCAA Tournament get auto bids...regardless of record. That's why LSU got a bid last year (and turned it down). McMahon really showed how great his ability to lose basketball games was when he put LSU in a spot to not get a NCAAT invite in a year when nearly the ENTIRE conference got invites.

I suspect you will see those in front of LSU in the pecking order turn down bids, so technically, LSU likely WILL get an invite. Hopefully it will quickly get declined because LSU doesn't have a coaching staff.

Should be the FCI (Fired Coaches Invitational).

I believe if Wade wants to come here, LSU will wait until NCState is eliminated. If Wade says NO, I believe McMahon will still be the coach next year.

So, it will be either Wade or McMahon and Wade will be the one making that decision.

I wonder if we might accept an NIT bid just to drag this out a little longer and allow more time to get to Will Wade.

The last time the NIT meant something was 2018 when ULL came over for a pretty decent game…two pretty passionate fanbases who had been missing postseason play. I don’t know what’s actually happened to prove it, but it’s pretty clear you won’t see that type of game and enthusiasm from either side again. There’s something about pre-Covid postseason that just didn’t translate over 5 years later. Nobody wants to watch an NIT game in Baton Rouge no matter who the opponent is.

I always felt if it’s played at MSG give it a run. I know they moved last year and this year being in Indy, it loses a lot it had going for it.

We should. We were 12-1 against non SEC teams. Coach Mc just sucks against the SEC.

I can't imagine the NIT will exist much longer. It will be very hard to find 32 teams who don't make the NCAA's, give a shite about playing in a lower tier tourney, and who still have enough of a roster left to actually compete.
