The days of dominating baseball like LSU did during the Skip Bertman are long over. Some of you need to accept it. LSU shouldn't settle for mediocrity but it also shouldn't be CWS or bust either.
tanner disagrees.

He still has good stuff, he just faded down the stretch probably due to a little arm fatigue. He had a decent start to this season. He'll come back stronger next year.
Eades doesn't have good enough stuff to fall behind 2-0 or 3-1 to every batter which he does. Very rarely does he get ahead.

He was good in the cape, but probably would have fallen off if he had to have as many consecutive starts as he did at LSU this year. Hopefully he can fix it with Dunn for next year, if not, he may just have to be a reliever. Nola will obviously be a starter. If a freshmen can't come in and get into the weekend rotation, I'd say you are looking at Eades, Broussard, and Cotton for those other 2 weekend spots

Very few pitchers really do. He was laboring at the end of the season because he hasn't thrown this many innings in a long, long time. He will get better as his arm becomes more accustomed to throwing more as he had good outings prior to the end of the year. You cannot teach a guy to throw 92-94 mph but you can teach him how to properly take care of his arm, work the count, set up pitches, etc.

Disagree about Ucla, only four appearances since the 60's and one was in 2010. Before that last appearance was 1997.

I dont think that Mainieri is that good a coach--game decisions mostly, but he has won enough to justify his job to me. Stony Brook was a better team than the Tigers, and I am not sure if we played them 100 times, the outcome would have been different. Great season for the Tigers, but just not quite there yet.

Your rotation next year is looking like this
Nola
Eades
Broussard/Bourgeois
Cotton (stays in the pen)
Rumbelow
Glenn
Broussard/Bourgeois
countless other freshman arms that didn't pitch

Forgot about Glenn, he might work his way into the rotation too

any chance cotton could play the jared bradford role?

You think they shut Eades down until the fall or does he play in a summer league.....You have to shut him down right?

defensive swings usually turn into double plays and lazy fly balls ..
not necessarily. good hitters or well coached ones know how to foul balls off and waste them.
obviously, i meant the ones that are eventually put in play ..

I heard a interview last week with Mainieri on 870 where he said that the players chose not to take a lap, and he liked that because it showed they had unfinished business.
well, that would be different from the players "forgetting" to take the victory lap ... and i still think they should have done it for the fans, considering the fact that they hadn't seen a regional at the box in three years .. it might have reminded these guys a little bit of one of the things they are playing for ..

This is what amazed me about SB. They seemed way more athletic than LSU.
literally, the only position we matched them at, quality-wise, was austin nola at short .. everywhere else, they were just clearly better than us in every phase ..

Do we have any JUCO guys that could possibly come in and start?

I heard the Mainieri interview and he said they forgot. Regardless, your post was bashing Mainieri for not letting them do it when you clearly had ZERO CLUE what you were talking about.

first .. how did you get that i "bashed" maineri out of what i said .. calling something a "head scratcher" is hardly "bashing" someone .. and no, i have a clue of what i am talking about .. it is quite simple .. this was the first time ever that LSU didn't take a victory lap after a regional, even in the era of the subsequent super regional .. and those teams had "unfinished business" too ... the players were standing in the 3B dugout looking at the field, they saw the fans gathered around the perimeter .. they didn't "forget" .. if CPM said this .. he was finding a nice way to explain why it didn't happen .. there were coaches pointing to the exit doors of the dug out to go to the visitor's clubhouse .. there were three players talking to family on the wall line too .. they didn't "forget" ..

Mainieri also didn't say they couldn't do it...which is what you said.

although not letting the players take a victory lap last weekend was maineri's first head scratcher move, fan-wise, i have seen him make ..

Ok so you weren't bashing. But own up. You called him out on something that you knew absolutely nothing about because right now the "cool" thing to do is question the coaches.
You point blank stated Mainieri didn't let them take a victory lap which was not true. Own up bud. You had no clue.
