Yep.

We lose to Bama and Arky but blow out Ga Tech in the Peach bowl and Les gets another year.

After watching how we took it to Auburn, I can honestly say we are far from mediocre. As much as I've dogged Miles, I was truly impressed this weekend.

Do you people even understand the definition of mediocrity? Hell, by what you people think, Saban's teams were mediocre in 4 out of the 5 seasons he was here. Yet, he's treated like a diety. Let me be clear here: Nick Saban coached LSU teams had fewer than 3 losses in only 1 of the 4 seasons he was here.

I'm not saying that I'm happy with what happened yesterday, but let's be real here. LSU is not slipping into mediocrity. LSU has top 5 facilities, top 5 recruiting classes, an outstanding academic center for athletes, and tradition that's tough to match. None of that is going anywhere. Period. If it's decided by those who have the authority to do so that Miles isn't in our best interest, some other coach will be given keys to a damn fine automobile. And you guys will complain that he doesn't win championships every year either.

It's not like we're getting dominated by UCLA or Iowa State like our neighbors to the west. Nor have we lost 3 straight games like a certain team in Florida. So have a little perspective and enjoy that there's a very real possibility that we go 11-1 or 10-2 this year.

we will not rise up again under Miles unless their is a new OC. The OC can run the team without Miles getting in the way. He will be just a good recruiter for us.

Bottom line. Three years is too long for this program to not have an SECCG appearance

Saban was here 5 years, not 4, and he was 2 plays away from leading us to 4 straight SEC championship game appearances. Also, all of those facilities were built under his direction. I'm not pining for Saban. There are other good coaches. But, he took a poorly performing program and turned it around. Miles is doing the opposite.

If we go 11-1, then my point is moot. We will have beaten Alabama and we likely go to a BCS bowl ranked around #5. No complaints there. I am saying that of we lose to Alabama, we are completely finished when it comes to any kind of championship.

Am I mistaken, or is LSU not supposed to be playing for championships. I really don't get how winning 8-9 games per season with this kind of talent is okay with some of you. If we lose to Alabama, we finish no better than 9-3 and no, that is not good enough, not when you have this kind of talent and it is 3 years in a row that you are out of title contention by the first week in November.

What comes next is that recruiting will drop. Top players want to play for championships. Winning 8-9 games per year at LSU in a 12 game schedule with an assortment of cupcakes on the schedule is the definition of mediocre.

I wouldnt say full-on mediocrity, but pretty close to it. We are definatly not living up to our full potential considering the talent we have under miles. Who knows maybe he might wise up and start lee, maybe even recruit us a good qb next year. either way u never know with les.

if Old Miss somehow upsets Auburn this Saturday, Alabama is going fricking DOWN in Tiger Stadium. it's sad, but with our coaching our players need that kind of motivation and reassurance that there is something worth playing for.

You will get too many different definitions of "mediocrity" to have a rational discussion. Some people would be happy with a winning record, others wouldn't be happy with anything less than an SEC championship.

I don't think so. I've been following LSU closely since 1982. That's long enough to have perspective. Remember 1988? The Earthquake game was great, but getting destroyed by Miami in that monsoon game and getting beat by Syracuse in the Hall of Fame Bowl were signs of things to come. Playing Ohio St. That year when we lost a close game, I noticed that every starter was either a Jr. or Sr. We didn't have good, young talent coming to start. You could sense the slide from previous years under Arnsparger.

In this case, the talent is still there, but it is so underutilized that the slide of the program is becoming apparent.

I hope I'm wrong. I really do. Like I said, we could beat Alabama and that would change everything.

Don't be so sure to say that because if AU loses to Bama, and UG beats AU, then we can still win the West if we beat Bama, Arky, and Ole Miss. It's a huge "what if" but I've seen crazier in my short 18 years of living.

Got news for you...we're out of it now. Auburn isn't going to lose twice in SEC play from here on in.

He'd better have the sack necessary to tell Leslie to stay the frick out of his offense.

Plus, the team I saw yesterday has a zero percent chance of beating Alabama.

2005 LSU
2006 Florida National Championship (LSU - 2nd Highest in SEC)

2008 Florida National Championship (LSU - 5th Highest in SEC)
2009 Alabama National Championship (LSU - 3rd Highest in SEC)
2010 Auburn National Championship (Prediction; LSU - 2nd Highest in SEC)

Perspective

From 2003-2009:

LSU is 73-19 overall
LSU has won 2 BCS Titles
LSU has won 2 SEC Titles
LSU has won 3 SEC Western Division Titles
LSU is 5-2 in Bowl Games
LSU has been in the top 5 of the SEC every year in the coaches poll. 3 times the highest ranked SEC team.
LSU has averaged a Top 10 final ranking in the coaches poll over the time period.

The SEC has been by far the best overall conference over the time period while also winning 5 National Championships.
The SEC West has sent 4 different programs to the SECCG over the last 7 years.
The SEC has had 5 different programs win an SEC Championship over the last 7 years.

Anyone who says we have slipped or are mediocre is a God Damn Idiot. We play in the best conference in the country and have still had great success.

My prediction is the SEC wins another National Championship (Auburn, 4th program in 8 years). LSU will finished ranked as the 2nd highest SEC team in the Coaches Poll (no worse than 3rd highest).
