Incorrect. They run blitzed the entire game last year.

Lmao....bamas best defense in a while? Jesus you guys are ignorant. Seriously. They gave up 500+ yards and 43 points against ole miss and another 30 against Arkansas. You guys I swear.

heres the defense bama started vs LSU last year
6 of that front 7 are gone. now with Jackson (S) out the only returning starters are Foster (LB) and Humphrey (CB).
their rush defense numbers are still very good but the lines they've played have had some issues, imo.
Texas AM starts a sophomore and 2 true freshman in the middle
the freshman guard was a 3 star outside the top 1000
same with the freshman center
shouldnt be that big of a surprise that bama was able to break through that
Tennessee was similiar because of all their injuries. their RT and RG were both sophomores and they had a true FR at LG. the RT and LG were both 3 stars as well.
Arkansas cant run on anyone.
none of that is us. our line is healthy, talented, and experienced.
LSU has the best S&P+ rush offense rankings for the SEC
LSU - 4
bama - 5
Tennessee - 12
TAM - 28
Auburn - 31
Missouri - 51
Ole Miss - 66
Florida - 91
Arkansas - 93

The whole key is the OL. Fournette, Etling, WRs....it all depends on the OL play blocking upfront.

I hope he just absolutely trucks dudes. Our o-line better not puss out in this game.

You think the ole miss ol is better than LSU? They managed big numbers against bama

Yea, JD was coming back from an injury and got hurt really early in the game on a run to the edge... remember thinking "well shite"
If I recall, Harris lofted a high pass to Moore in the flat. As soon as he caught it, the defender cut him off at the knees before he could turn and square up.

He's not going to have an Ole Miss type of game where he just starts ripping off huge runs ( although I would be like that South Park guy at the computer if he did) but he could approach 100 because the blocking scheme has changed. There is a whole lot more zone blocking .
I personally think Guice would do better against the Bama defense mainly because he's a bit more patient as a runner.
If O could go 4 wide with one of them being Fournette going out as a receiver in motion downfield, I think there is some opportunity there. Gotta freeze those LB's though.
Remember last year Bama did a lot of its damage with really just 4-5 men and the rest hanging back.

Lol...4-5 men. They run blitzed all night. Good god. You hear it or read it, so it must be true. They disguised packages all night to stop the run...and were willing to let BH beat them....they knew he couldn't. Jesus.

Unfortunately Alabama is a machine our o line isn't up to par yet and etling will be running for his life all night
He won't be running for his life. They'll either catch him or he'll get the pass off. I don't see him getting very far scrambling against this defense.

Those numbers are misleading. They give up yards through the air, but those yards are negated by turnovers and sacks that kill drives.
We put up a ton of passing yards against Ole Miss last year, but looking at the bigger picture, the passing yards were fool's gold.
It will be interesting to see how they respond to their best DB being out.

Still using the JD Moore/ fullback excuse?
The fullback being out doesn't force our offense to be predictable.

the key to the game is can our oline get to the linebackers on run plays and can we be a threat to pass it deep to keep their DBs from playing the sticks or playing short routes.
you look at the tennessee game the vols committed to the short passing game and screens ect.. and didnt even try to throw the ball deep so the bama DBs ate it up and we all know what happened. we cant get in a lot of obvious passing downs. thats why bamas rush is so good because they constantly force obvious passing downs. we have to be unpredictable. we do that we have a great chance.

I think Moore was out. The safeties were in the backfield just after the snap as though they knew what plays were being called. Curious, no?
Posted on 10/26/16 at 11:50 am to Number 31
Another advantage we have is that for the first time since 2012, we have WRs that are experienced upperclassmen going against their CBs. They like to play press coverage so maybe our WRs will actually beat them in 1on1 battles.
Ole Miss, Clemson, and Ohio State in the last few years had WRs that beat their man coverage. Eddie Jackson is out so we out to go after Hootie Jones or whoever they put in his place.

500 yards and 43 points is misleading? Lmao

A better question is will the OL have success against Alabama this year?
This 100%. It is all on the Oline assuming we have not ST gaffes or 'busted coverage'.

if the hole isnt there immediately he dances in the backfield too much. wont work vs bama.

Definitely. 'Bama can't put eight in the box with a legitimate passing attack to worry about. I doubt he rips through them like he did Ole Miss, but I could definitely see him with 100+ for the night.
