Will D return to former dominance over next couple of years?

I am talking about the type of D where the other team is doing good to simply get a first down, or cross midfield, and avoiding turnovers by not having it pried from their grasp, because getting into the endzone is next to impossible type D. Have offenses gotten the upper hand in the SEC with the likes of Sumlin and Malzahn? Or is our team in the process of bouncing back from the recent NFL defection?

Our problem last year was a mediocre defensive line and corners that couldn't hang for that long on an island. Mills and Collins aren't all Americans out there but the line did them no favors. Robinson and White will be a special duo

Agree with all of that. Robinson and White could end up being one of our best CB duos ever.

While they very well could and have the talent to do so, this is the hyperbole the rant is so guilty of. Yes the kids did well this year, but Mills was a true freshmen all American, then came out and got his job taken by another true frosh because he was getting picked on.

He ended up playing well as a safety (or at least better than our real safeties), and I think he will mesh well there next season. All this being said, I think our Secondary, with the guys we got in this class, will pretty damn strong.

I think our biggest problem was missing Minter and Mingo. No one stepped up to their production. Our DE's hardly put any pressure on the qb, as well as Ego and Freak not playing up to their potential. So the D line and lb ers just didn't step up to the level of play of those before them.

Hopefully this class will strengthen the lb er play as well as S production. Hopefully the D line is much improved as well, I think that is the biggest question mark facing this Defense.

Yet he started every game of the season...

Don't read them, dildo! I've never understood this thinking. The television menu is filled with crap; it doesn't bother me, though; I just don't watch those programs. Why do you feel compelled to insult people?

Because the rant has pricks that feel like it's their job to jump in every thread. I'm reading it and like the topic

Although. I wouldn't have Sumlin in the question as we have punked him

This is one of the things I really enjoy about LSU football, the way the defense is so versatile. Considering this, I think LSU has had the best defense in college the last 5 years. It really matches well against spread offenses, but it depends heavily on the two DTs to match up against power teams. This is where we need to recover. I'm optimistic that one of Heron, Gilmore and Bain will be able to join LaCouture as co-run-thugs. With QT and the other sophomores, I feel like we'll have the depth we need.

Miles is looking for a coach that can help Brick coach the DL. Maybe this will help the D. But, it takes time. Hopefully, this will expedite the process.

We need Hunter to have 8-9 sacks this year and someone else at MLB that can shed blocks and be a sure tackler

The Dline will be a monster this year. Rasco, Allen, hunter, Gilmore, Mickey, Thomas, Bain, lacature, bower, Herron, and possibly valentine as a true freshmen.

They will be great this year. Book it.

Rasco more than replaced Mingo, check the numbers. He had a similar or even better year than Mingo had the previous year and got better as the year progressed. Now Montgomery's a different situation. His numbers were not replaced. And of course Minter was not even close to having been replaced, numbers wise.

Numbers may not be telling the whole story. Mingo was pretty disruptive even if a TFL, sack, hurry, etc didn't show up.

But I agree that Rasco was playing very well at the end of the season.

Yes. Dline will be strong. Expect Valentine and LMFAO to get playing time soon.

The LB's have to be better

The DB's will be stellar once again.

Overall, the D will be 90+% of the 2011 D. For comparison, 2013 was about 70%.
