Will Brian Kelly be able to work with the team at all on bowl game prep?

I know it's not much time before the bowl game, but could he have any input on game plan and player improvement? Or is that totally up to Brad Davis since he's the interim

It sounds like he's ready to start coaching...like today. I'm sure he has some high priority issues to tend to outside of coaching LSU for and in a bowl game, but it really does sound like he's ready to do it all.

Recruiting current and future players is much more important than coaching a game with a coaching staff that will have quite a few departures after the game. I don't think it would benefit him to get involved with the bowl.

I’m still trying to wrap my head around how he left a 11-1 possible playoff team just high and dry to come to lsu. I’m very thankful don’t get me wrong; just wondering as Paul Harvey said what’s “the rest of the story”.

Yes it sounds like he's ready for it. What better way to vet the current assistants than preparing for and coaching a game with them?? Peetz has to go regardless.

Without O they don't have any coaching restrictions
They could add one to on field duties

I think it was a once in a lifetime opportunity and he feels that ND not being a conference is hindering them.

I have a ND boss and he feels like some stuff will come out in the wash.

I would be very surprised if he coached the game. Had input? Maybe, but at this point, it’s basically two completely different teams. There will be players off this team on next year’s, but a completely different scheme, terminology, and culture.

Listen to the press conference and then you'll know.

when taking ownership of a new company, you sit back and observe the true leaders in action, take notes on changes that need to be made, and then construct a team of coaches and players that give you the best chance to be successful.

Because Kelly has a "fireman" mentality who is not afraid to run into a burning house and save lives. He accepted the LSU HC job because he has no fears of playing against the coaches and teams in the SECW. Riley on the other hand ran from the challenge and took the easier way out like a vagina.

He's going to be coaching the bowl game. He already told Brad Davis to take a hike.

The dude used the word "alignment" damn near 100 times during his PC. Have to assume he was tired of being micromanaged by the ND admin.

Maybe he sits in the press box and helps out with the play calling. I imagine he will be poking his head around during bowl preparation practices to get a gauge on the program

The bowl game gives him a great opportunity to evaluate the staff that is here and how they work.

He can do whatever he wants. He's certainly going to be watching and evaluating players and present coaches. He's also not precluded from working with the team. So, yes.

I think he'll be at every minute of every bowl practice because that's his starting point. That's where he gets a feel for both the current coaches and his future players.

I imagine the goal is to observe, in detail. I'm sure there will be questions, but I doubt actually in the weeds coaching. This is his evaluation period.

That's one reason being bowl eligible is particularly valuable this time. If it wasn't for those practices he'd be a little blind.

And if anybody is wondering why the asst. coaching search is taking a little bit this is one, of many, reasons why. CBK needs to see how these coaches perform first. Evaluating the players is just as important... but evaluating the coaches has a clock on it.
