There is some lack of comprehension in this thread. I don't think anyone in here thinks Mett will WIN the Heisman trophy.
The discussion was solely centered on him being in the Heisman discussion at the beginning of the year. There are what 10-12 players in the discussion at the beginning of the year?
To think that Mett couldn't possibly even be in the discussion at the beginning of the season is pretty ludicrous.
Again, there is a MAJOR difference between being in the Heisman dicussion in the beginning of the season and being a Heisman Finalist and getting invited to NY. How many people had Teo or Manziel in their preseason discussion to win the trophy? No one. Preseason discussions are just that, discussions. Nothing more.

I think Hill is a more likely candidate to be in the discussion.

The level of delusion within our fanbase is pretty staggering. Sunshine pumpers are starting to irk me as much as TAMU and Arky fans..

PLEASE, for the love of God, don't start this shite again. All of the BS that was on here pre-season was 93.6% wrong!!!
People on here know about as much as the dingleberry's on the radio who watch the team stretch, warm up and then say expect Russell Shepard to be more involved in the Offense for the past three years!!!

Bleacher Report= the ultimate troll.

Mettenberger has a much better chance at following in Jamarcus Russell's footsteps than winning a Heisman. His skillset and upside scream "elite" QB talent, much like JR. However, his numbers, even if they improve next year as everyone expects, will not be nearly enough to garner "best in the nation" accolades.
I can see him possibly being in the discussion of the 1st QB taken in the draft over him being in the discussion for the Heisman.

All he needs are some WRs that aren't a foot shorter than he is!
Posted on 12/6/12 at 12:18 pm to Cousin
Ok ok, sure I like that. BUT our receivers need to step up. He isn't johnny football- he isn't that agile so he will need to put up some impressive numbers in my opinion.

Hell, if Les lets him make a 3rd down play against Bama
Second down play! You do it when they DON'T expect it. On third and eight they half expected a pass.

Mettenberger will not sniff the Heisman, and I am absolutely fine with that. It is not his job to win the Heisman. It is his job to run the team, pass efficiently, and win games.
AJ Mccarron was being mentioned as a darkhorse heisman candidate until the LSU game. He was very efficient with 0 picks and not a lot of yardage. If our WRs can progess and Mett cuts down the INTs and we are in the hunt next year, he could get mentioned, but wont have the stats to go to NY.

This. I really don't get whats so hard to believe about that. The starting QB for the National Championship contenders are just about always mentioned.

Mettenberger has a better chance of winning the Powerball than he does of winning the Heisman in 2013.

Which are still both drastically higher than ULLs chances of playing in anything except the New Orleans Bowl.
