Often just as many opposing fans as home fans.
UF, students and the alums that I know, do not support baseball. That being said, we can do better.

LSU will give him a raise. Florida may well match it.

quote:

HCs change jobs for more resources...while he has everything he needs, new ballpark included.

LSU can probably offer more resources/support than Florida... but it's not a huge amount by any chance.

We will pull O'Sullivan but only if O'Sullivan is ready to leave Florida... just like Kramer's mom was ready to leave Baylor. He can leave Florida and not suffer for it if he comes here.

He may like Florida and not want to leave, and if that's the case, he's not coming.

quote:

If we wanted a NC winning coach who’d love to have a CLEAR advantage in resources and a salary bump...why aren’t we talking about Coastal’s or Oregon State’s coaches?

I like Gilmore, but he's been at Coastal for 25 years and he's got 5 fewer career wins than Pawl. I'm pretty sure he is in his early 60s. I think he is too old to be going after.

Same with Pat Casey... he's in his early 60s... plus he allowed a known pedophile to play for him... we don't need that at LSU right now with all the crap we currently have.

There is so much smoke there it would be extremely naïve to not think there is at least some fire to go with it. On the other side of the spectrum....I will not be the least bit surprised if the whole think is a smoke screen and O'Sullivan is going along with it to get him another raise.

Wut? Is there a link or anything to corroborate this?

Even as niche as college baseball is, if that happened it would be all over ESPN. Link to a husband killing his wife and kids anywhere?

Why would Saban leave Miami to go to Alabama?

Because he wasn’t very good at coaching Miami for starters...

Your first couple reasons he wouldn't leave are garbage. Higher salary?

You think LSU is gonna try to lure someone by offering them less than their current job??

Also, talent rich state? It is, no doubt. But there's way more competition for recruits plus it's easier to recruit OOS to LSU baseball.

More recent success? True, but we were there opponent when they won their NC. Not like they've lapped LSU lol. LSU is the premier college baseball program.

Also fan support is a thing. You can't just dismiss that.

The "logic" behind "fan support" is that when a school possesses it to the degree of LSU, it becomes a revenue generating sport, an extreme rarity for college baseball programs. UF does not possess such fan support, and this is something that O'Sullivan has apparently been rather vocal about.

Baseball as a revenue generator enables a larger budget for things like better facilities and even recruiting.

LSU is a baseball "blue blood." UF isn't. In a down year, we took the best player out of Florida in Dylan Crews (O'Sullivan's backyard).

He has been there long enough and it is time for a new gig. Sometimes it is that simple. UF does not strongly support baseball. LSU is the mecca of college baseball.
