So sick of this shite. You can't even dislike the idea of a guy's coaching without it becoming racial.

I didn’t mention race. Your own thoughts took you there. I’m genuinely curious though. I’m not necessarily pumped about Daronte, but I also think Neilsen has a stable of studs making him look good. Daronte may have been coaching his arse off making the most of lesser talent?

Who knows, the guy may have interviewed like a champ. On the racial standpoint, I will say this I do believe O felt compelled to hire a black coordinator. After all the BLM stuff last summer I think he’s trying to make a statement by showing commitment to the black athletes. My thoughts, no sauces.

Why the excitement for one but not the other?

One coaches for the Saints and the other for a team which no one knows about their staff outside the HC

So Daronte has never been a good position coach?

You realize he was fired from the Bengals in January 2020 as a position coach because his DBs and the secondary were among the league's worst, right?

You might need a better argument

I’ll put it in terms this board can understand. Schlumberger just promoted a rig supervisor to its VP of Operations

How absurd is that.

Because one was good at their position?
Saints DL under Nielsen progressively got better to one of the best in the NFL.

Vikings Defensive Secondary under Jones progressively got worse to one of the worst in the NFL.

That's a fact, but it doesn't matter.

Hire the Man anyway. Let him attempt to coordinate a Championship caliber SEC West Defense.

Qualifications and experience; don't need em when you're scaping the bottom of the barrel desperate.

Woodward got his man just like I said he would from the very beginning.......

Nielsen has been absolutely ELITE as a Position coach. Elite.

Yes, he's been solid but was also working with very good players on that line.

We already have a really good dB coach???? And I liked the idea of a dominant Dline especially with the studs we have on dline.
Absolutely.

And did we not all just hear that CR wants to coach the entire secondary. (I'm not a fan of separate coaches for CB's and Safeties)

How's that going to work?

This has "Post Pelini Disaster 2.0" written all over it; really an embarrassingly weak hire for a team that just
won the NC in 2019!

The rest of the SEC is laughing at LSU right now.

Had UH secondary ranked 11th in the nation. Top defense at college D2 level. He's been pretty good.

Hawaii stat's do not count for anything, ever.

You didn’t have to. It was obvious where you were going with that question.

One of the insiders on here said a few weeks ago that the admin said it would be “preferable” if the hire was a minority. Going Willie Taggart style, real smart move.

No one has heard of Jones

Nielsen has a lot of tape/ interviews...so you can get to know him a little.

Jones is unknown

I havent been vocal either way, but my only concern is that one led an awesome defensive line and the other a less than spectacular DB group. Either way, Im happy to have a DC in place if its final.

Go look at performances of Saints DL and Vikings CB’s, theres your answer. Or were you trying to make it a race thing?
