Both are position coaches at the NFL level. Why the excitement for one but not the other?

Compare resume and performance as position coaches.

Had UH secondary ranked 11th in the nation. Top defense at college D2 level. He's been pretty good.

So Daronte has never been a good position coach? Weird that he got hired on by an NFL team (multiple).

You’re implying race, but the same people were thrilled with Freeman. I think it’s dejection due to being down to our third choice.

One guy had his team fight like hell to retain him. The other didn't. Now who are the racists?

Because Brady recommend one of them and we all know Brady is the main reason LSU went 15-0 in 2019.

Is that really hard to understand?

You people are batshit lunatics.

Nielsen has been absolutely ELITE as a Position coach. Elite.

Jones has...not been.

Statistically, no. He’s been pretty mediocre to bad. That doesn’t mean he won’t be a good DC. Sometimes circumstances are out of a position coaches control.

We already have a really good dB coach???? And I liked the idea of a dominant Dline especially with the studs we have on dline.

So you’re comparing a guy who had top DLines wherever he’s been including the NFL to a guy who had his secondary ranked 11th at fricking Hawaii?

I think anyone either cheering or jeering these coaching hires needs to calm down. These are 2 basically unproven hires at their chosen positions. I think we’d all be served with a “wait and see” approach, but that wouldn’t be the rant, now would it.

If you’re going to compare performance, then compare the players and the teams they coach for as well. It’s hard to have a top notch def backfield if the d-line and LBs struggle.

All I know is that if Daronte doesn’t work, he will have been the last person O hires.

Terrible take, but that's exactly what the OP wanted to stir up.

So sick of this shite. You can't even dislike the idea of a guy's coaching without it becoming racial.

I wasn't thrilled about Nielsen, but I agree he has had dominant DLs.

People like you are so narrow minded. We all wanted Freeman, because he's an incredible defensive mind. He's black too.
