re: Why we should pull for Auburn

Another reason not to pull for Auburn:
The 1994 nightmare game of interceptions and horrendous play-calling by Lyn Amedee. Auburn did nothing on offense all day, but won the game and extended their winning streak.
Both Oregon and Auburn have flaws on defense. Neither has a championship-caliber defense. That's why they could both be beaten this weekend, and then it might be TCU and Wisconsin in the BCS championship game. If Auburn gets beat on Saturday, they don't deserve a shot at the national championship since they would not have even won their conference title. That's what happened in 2003 w/Oklahoma advanced after getting trounced by K-State.
Don't think both will lose, but don't underestimate South Carolina or Oregon State, either. Spurrier will definitely have his team ready. Oregon State has beaten USC and Arizona, but lost to one of the worst teams in the country, Washington State. Nevertheless, it's a rivalry game, so you have to feel they'll be ready, too.

to the OP: I can't do it! I thank you for compiling a list of things that I can be happy about after Auburn wins. But if we're talking about a future game I am pulling against Auburn. I was pulling for them for about a week and a half before we lost to the Hawgs and I still feel dirty.
It sounds ok I guess to say that "we only lost to the BCSNC and one other team," but we do get to play Oregon next year.

quote:Of course there is no promise that either Arkansas or Georgia score as many either. As with Cam Auburn tended to score a lot and score quickly. This allowed opposition the ball with greater regularity giving them more chances to score more points. Auburn was 87th in POS, falling below even LSU at that point, yet Auburn put up a hell of a lot more points than LSU (41.58/28.75)
In any case, if you think that Auburn would have put up 60+ points on Arkansas, 50 on Georgia, etc., without Cam, I don't know what to tell you.

Why are people campaigning for others to root for Auburn? Root for whoever you want and STFU. No one cares why you or everyones should root for Auburn. That being said geaux Cocks!!!

Either way, if you want to say that these games would become 50/50, that leaves 6 other games to be considered that were won on one possession. Can we agree that having Kodi Burns at QB would have lost these games for Auburn? If so, Auburn finishes 6-6 AT BEST, so my statement stands.

Hope SC beats Auburn bad.....and Newton and Fairly both get hurt.
And TCU then beats Oregon for the NC. Go Chickens!

True.
Let me just put it to you this way:
Everything else constant, does Auburn have a better chance of winning any of these games with Cam at QB or Burns? If you can say yes, and you can say that WITH him, the games were decided by a single possession, then it is more than reasonable to suggest that WITHOUT him, Auburn likely loses.
Either way doesn't matter. Auburn is going to go on to play for and likely win the BCSNG, then likely have it revoked in a few years, and in the meantime, because of the huge loss of players on their team, Auburn isn't going to be relevant in the SEC West for a few years.

I'm all for Auburn to go all the way. If you lived in Alabama, then you'd understand. The Auburn fans that I know are classy and the Alabama fans are arrogant as hell. I hope that AU wins the NC so I can witness the reaction of the Bama fans.

quote:Actually it really isn't as the games would have been played out differently. Just like LSU and the games would have been different with different margins of victory/losses had Lee played all season in comparison to JJ.

that I think we've lost to the Aubbies in my cognizant lifetime was Trovon last year.
And that may change If they become the MNC winners. They are looked at more seriously.
Greg Robinson (4* OL) is debating between LSU and auburn. I'm sure a NC may sway him a little.
I would love to see the SEC take 5 in a row and solidify even more that we have the most stout competition but when it comes down to it, If we were to lose just 1 player to auburn because the NCG then it just won't seem worth it.

frick those cheap-shot, face-sawing, laptop-stealing, chop-blocking, plagiarists, money-soliciting, rule-breaking MF'ers. GO SC!!

No way I am pulling for Auburn. I don't give two shits if they are the better team then South Carolina, IF THEY LOSE THEY LOSE.
If they go to the NC with Oregon I'm hoping Oregon beats their arse. I will never EVER support Auburn EVER

2. They beat us. It's better for us to say we lost to the eventual NC and (gag) only one other game, than to say we lost to the winner of the Orange or Cap One Bowl.
So tired of this. When you get down to the point, a 10-2 record is a 10-2 record. The record books aren't going to say "but 2 of their losses were against teams that didn't win the national championship, so they suck." And on the flip side, if AU wins, it won't say "LSU went 10-1.5 because they lost to a really good team OMG!"
Also the pro-SEC crap is dumb. Auburn winning will do nothing for LSU. How good will the SEC look if Auburn ends up vacating this season?

If it isn't LSU's, I could care less if the NC is in the SEC.
I hope Auburn goes down in flames this week, or in the NC.

1. I don't care.
2. I don't care.
3. Anybody with Trooper Taylor on staff is cheating. I don't care if it is official or not.
4. Huh?
5. False. If the cheating doesn't bother you just watch that piece of garbage Fairley play.
6. I don't care.
F*ck Auburn.

No way of obviously proving that. Hell look at LSU and many thought 8-4 at the start of season and they are 10-2. They were 7-5 (8-5 after bowl) last season and could have easily gone 8-4 without Cam as Dryer would have been used a hell of alot more. As every single one of those games would have played out differently without Cam.
I'm not convinced Dyer wasn't paid as well...

Burns converted to a WR last season........so if Cam was NOT at Auburn this year...Burns would still be a WR with Barrett Trotter or Neil Caudle staring at the QB position
