Why was PP7 dropped at Bronco's first pick?

Seems a month ago, everyone was certain that Denver would pick up PP7, and now it's a long shot.
I'll be living up there and was excited to watch him play still, anyone know why they chose to go with a LB/DT?

PP7 should be the #1 pick! 10 seasons from now, every team that passes on him will be wishing they didn't!

I think they resigned Champ Bailey.
They have two solid CB's.

Some people do not think they will tie that much up in the CB position (with him and Champ).
Also they are going to a 4-3 and a player like Marcell Dareus would go a long way in helping that switch.

Exactly. Picks are usually based upon team needs rather than best player available.

Denver lost two DTs, and was horrible on run defense. I think the switch to the 4-3 and the need for defense up the middle will push them to take Darius or Von Miller.
I'd take PP7 and put him in the backfield with Baily. That would free up a LB or S to support the run defense.

Age is getting on with the DB's, Cox off the field problems can't help. They will try and limp by this year with fingers crossed. FS and SS are both an area of need with them. DL is the other area of need on that side of the ball.

I hope the Panthers don't pick up PP7. It would be a pretty sensible pick if they feel like they can get Clausen or Pike to perform at least mediocre or get a veteran QB. But I'd hate to see us have to go against PP7 twice a year.

I don't either but I would LOVE to have a LSU Tiger be the first DB ever drafted #1 overall in the NFL draft. It is a double edged sword!
Plus, I do not want someone from Alabama or Auburn going #1 overall!

I think it a pretty foregon conclusion Carolina is gonna take Cam. Which as a Saints fan I love, but as a Tigers fan I absoulutely hate.
