Yes, I am wondering if he gave us a few pointers on how to stop a mobile quarterback.

Bill has left some breadcrumbs in his past that suggests he's a closet LSU fan. I can't prove it but I've always had the vibe from him.

There were a fair few LSU players in his first few SB runs. And Bert Jones is his favorite QB.

He was on the staff in Baltimore when Jones was the QB there. There's video out there of interview Belichick did maybe 10 years ago where he swears that Bert Jones had the strongest arm ever in NFL history. Here's the quote.

quote:

“Bert Jones was a tremendous player,” Belichick said. “A tremendous player. Very athletic. He had an arm like no other, really. I’ve never seen a player with the kind of flexibility he had in his arm. The kind of whip and accuracy. He had a quick delivery. He was a tremendous quarterback in an era that was a little bit different. But if he played today and was healthy, (we’d all say), ‘This guy’s really good.’

“Once he hurt his shoulder, he was never really the same, but it wasn’t like he was ever not a good player. Some guys are up and down or whatever, but he was always good.”

quote:

Belichick knows this firsthand. His first NFL coaching job was as a Colts special assistant in 1975 — Jones’ third season in the league — and he still remembers being wowed by the quarterback during warmups.

“Bert Jones could do things that I’ve never seen another quarterback do,” Belichick said. “I would play catch with Bert, he would throw the ball, and then maybe every fifth or sixth pass, he would throw the ball and then release it on the other side of his head. His shoulder was that loose.”

The Giants don't win 2 Super Bowls under Bill Parcells without then DC Bill Belichick.

Belichick was in the process of turning the Cleveland Browns franchise around before Art Modell decided to move the franchise to Baltimore & fire him. Belichick & some guy named Nick Saban was his DC in Cleveland.

Ozzie Newsome used what he learned from Belichick in terms of scouting & roster management to make the Ravens one of the best franchises in the NFL & eventual Super Bowl champs.

He was always strictly business. One of the most underrated TEs in NFL history & a great GM after his playing days. I would probably add Derrick Thomas in there. I loved watching him play with KC. I believe his 8 sacks in a game against the Seahawks is still the NFL record.

Your arse would have had to be alive to understand how great of a DC Parcells really was.
