That's more impressive than a D line coach...

...with an already established history of failure within your own conference as a head coach.

Again...a risky, unproven hire is better than a hire that would have to reverse his own fricking trend for it to work out.

Why? Those are people I would have preferred over O. I didn't say that I wanted them per se. There are dozens of more names for that list.

Cool. Still has a better resume than O. Ah hell, so do the vast majority of college football coaches. Who are we kidding?

If this is true, who do you blame for that kind of fall off?

we have no idea who wanted the job because our AD threw a hissy fit and shut the process down. You really think O was the best we could do? Get fricking real.

I dont understand how on God's green earth anyone could possibly think State was 30 points more talented than LSU last year. Or any points more talented than LSU last year.

If he sticks to his selling points, I think he can be a good head coach. If the offensive coaches can come together with their experience, this could be an explosive offense. It's just not something we've seen yet. I don't think anyone can say for sure what's gonna happen. There are opportunities there for the taking, but only time will tell.

Someone with a track record of running his own program successfully --- as a full time head coach, not an interim. Any of the coaches listed below would have had a higher chance of success at LSU than O. And this is far from an exhaustive list.

Dana Holgerson
PJ Fleck
Dan Mullen
Willie Taggert
Larry Fedora
Jeff Brohm
Todd Graham
Kyle Whittingham
Mike Leach

Not according to NFL scouts. We were still a far more talented team than State.

What’s your next excuse?

Obviously.

Why would a proven, high quality coach want a Top 10 job at a program that currently has more guys in the NFL than any other program and has won 2 NC's in recent memory and played for a 3rd, has a metric shite-ton of resources and rabid fan support and national recognition?

Obviously...there were never gonna' be takers for that kind of shitty job.

so after you swing and miss on #1 and #2 on your list, you immediately hire the guy that honestly should not crack the top 50 of acceptable applicants for the job?

And if this is the case, hiring a proven failure within the conference was the best call...

I don’t hate the man. I just hate the situation that LSU’s athletic director put him in.
