Texas ran 85 plays to our 68.

We (in a way) scored too quickly. This isnt a bad thing, it just hurt the defense. Which is why Big 12 defenses are shite.

We also gave up a ridiculous drive to Texas at one point.

Anyway, Joe Burrow is averaging 11 yards per pass right now .

This is not a sustainable number.

Thats outlandish and it will go down unless Burrow is the greatest QB in CFB history. The offense will score at a much slower rate against the SEC.

The efficiency wont take a hit, but the YPA and Overall yardage will.

The defense will have a ton of time to rest. Texas was better on offense than anyone here knew they would be. It was nuts.

Something tells me the defense is out to prove they can still ball. Florida is in for a nightmare in a few weeks.

They better be. The defense is the weakest link so far and by far.

The defense will be fine because they will not miss tackles and miss play balls in the air all year. The defense will be fine because we will not be trying to contain a mobile QB that also happens to have an amazing passing night every week.

So much of this overreaction is going to look absolutely sill by the end of the year.

We seem thin at the DB spot. Losing Surtain after putting all chips in for him and then Joseph’s antics will be a thorn in our side this year.
Short of depth on the D line as well.

But if we don’t have injuries, I think they will gel and get better as the year goes on.

I'm really hoping Emery emerges as a big contributor this year. We need to be able to mix in the run game when necessary to slow things down a bit for the defense in big SEC games. I love CEH but he's no Guice, Fournette, Hill, etc

When will this stupid shite go away? The defense not getting off the field on third down and giving up 19 play drives is what hurt them. It had absolutely nothing to do with the offense. The defense was on the field for so many plays because they couldn’t fricking stop Texas. End of story.

We were in position to start tightening the vice on Texas. If we convert that 3rd and 1 and go on to score a touchdown at the beginning of the second half, then the defense goes on to stop Texas and we proceed to suck the life out of them.

I think that will be our game moving forward. We'll play bend-don't-break defense until the offense starts running away with the game. Then the defense will feast on a desperate offense. You could see we were setting up for that, but Ehlinger's a warrior and we had some bad luck and had to fight the entire game.

this. I get so tired of hearing that stupid shite repeated over and over on here. If the defense stops them and gets them off the field then the LSU offense gets more plays and the defense is on the field less. OUr offense getting first downs and moving the ball helps the defense. if our offense was getting a lot of 3 and outs it would be more detrimental to our defense. LSU defense not being able to get Texas off the field and allowing so many 3rd down conversions hurt the defense

IMO, the defense got carried away. They underestimated Texas and over rated themselves.
Chaisson, after the game, admitted it.

no it won't. Fulton, Stingley, Stevens, Vincent, Harris and Delpit are not weak links.

Philips, Queen, Clark, Divinity, and Chaisson are not weak links

Lawrence, Fehoka, Shelvin and Logan are not weak links.

Aranda is one of the best, if not the best, DC's in the country.

does any one of those guys or position groups look like a weak link?

It is just absurd to say Lsu's defense is a "weak link"

Yep.

the overreaction this week was predictable though.

nope. You could say we have young and inexperienced depth at those positions but we do have good solid depth.

If LSU were to be able to win it all this year, I have no doubt some on here would be wringing their hands the day after saying "this is great but I am really concerned about next year". Just enjoy the win!

It's not the speed guys

It's not getting off the field on 3rd down ...

19 play drive had zero to do with Lsu's speed on offense

i agree it will most likely go down, but 11 per attempt has been done before.
hell its been done each of the last 3 seasons. 2 different guys did it just last year.

Thank you ! Awful tackling and when you have zero pass rush without blitzing eventually good WRs will get open even on the best DBs. LSU needs to improve because the schedule doesnt get easier.

Missed tackles really hurt us.

This will be cleaned up.

The only way to have a good night against these modern offenses is to affect the QB with the front 4.
