I’d save him for game 2 or 3. Thoughts?

Maybe Jay told him he has tomorrow off and is only going to go an inning, max on Sunday.

I like that we haven't used anyone else, but don't like the idea of not having Reyz the rest of the weekend.

Any way we get that 4 seed still? I know Auburn would have to shite the bed

Me neither. Vandy is heavy lefty hitters and we have Cooper and Hasty fresh. There are a lot of back of the bullpen guys you could have thrown in innings 8 and 9. That would have put Reyz in a good position to pitch a couple of innings Saturday on one day rest.

We need Money to get back in the groove.

As someone else said already, it is so that he will be ready for Tuesday. Going Thu, Sat, Tue would be a bit much for a max effort pitcher like Reyz.

Instead of 30 pitches tonight and possibly 20 Saturday, why not 45 tonight?

I like the move.

Using one relief pitcher is a positive. Reyzelman didn’t get into trouble with his location. I say let him roll. His best performance of the year.

That was my only complaint of the night. They should have taken him out in the 8th.

If LSU sweeps and Auburn loses 2/3 to Kentucky LSU is 17-13 and Auburn is 16-13 so not likely but Kentucky did take 2/3 from Tennessee

It was starting to turn into somewhat of a game when he came in and had two runners on .

It’s just a game that we had to win after the 6-0 lead

It’s not a save when you win by 11. Dropped his ERA & padded the stats.

yes it is... pitching the final 3 innings in a game (where you aren't the pitcher in line for the win) gets you a save

NCAA Statisticians Manual

quote:

SECTION 26—save
If a relief pitcher meets ALL of the following conditions, the
official scorer should credit that pitcher with a save:
a. He is the finishing pitcher in a game won by his team;
b. He is not credited with the win; and
c. He meets one of the following conditions:
(1) He enters the game with a lead of not more than three
runs and pitches at least one inning;
(2) He enters the game with the potential tying run on base,
at bat or on deck; or
(3) He pitches effectively for at least three innings.

ETA: Reyz pitched the final 3.2 IP tonight... therefore... he gets a save tonight

ETA2: Tonight's Box Score on LSUsports.net where it's marked as Reyz with a save

Looks like he wants him to sit the rest of the weekend so he’s ready for the SECT next week.

If he pulled him before he hit 30 pitches, he would have had an urge to throw him again later this weekend.
