The reality is only if he wants to. Good faith job searches in high-level personal performance contracts are difficult to enforce if the person just doesn't want to take (in this case) other football employment. For example if an FCS team offers him $1mm per year to be their head coach he doesn't have to take it to satisfy the mitigation.
