Not sure but my roommate in college was a walk-on and he only traveled with the team to bowl games. Four years on the team and he played the last two plays of the Sugar Bowl against Notre Dame and made the last tackle of the game. He said it was worth all the practices.

Rudy played for Notre Dame, not against them.

I agree it really sucks for the 8 men that can't make the trip with the team. They should definitely change that rule for the CWS

If they(the NCAA or SEC) allow a team to carry 35 players then all should participate in all aspects of the game....

Water boy goes to bowl games with football teams and baseball can't take actual players. NCAA sucks!

Exactly. Hell, even if only 27 could be "active", the others should get to make the trip and be in the dugout.

It's ridiculous, but it's completely in fitting with the NCAA's lack of respect for baseball. The SEC has proven that baseball can be a revenue generating sport (except at Florida where no one gives a shite, lol), and that college baseball is worth investing in, but we're all limited to 11.7 total scholarships and 27 man travel rosters. If paying for 35 guys to travel instead of just 27 is gonna bankrupt the athletic department at some school, they have no business being in D1, but trying to get the NCAA to understand that is like pushing a rock up a hill.

The NCAA doesn't care about the little schools in football, but in all other sports we have to be fair. How about the schools actually decide how they want to spend their own damn money.

Blaming it on Title IX is an over simplification. There are plenty of schools that would gladly give 100 extra female scholarships if it meant they could give 10 more baseball scholarships.

The problem is the NCAA not realizing that baseball is worth investing in. Hell, even on the girl's side, softball gets screwed just like baseball does for the guys. The NCAA allows more girls scholarships for equestrian than they do for softball...
