We had so few players that we had zero active QBs on the roster. Kirklin played QB in high school, so they figured what the hell and let him try.

My understanding is that he sat out of a meaningless bowl on the advice of the incoming staff and his dad to preserve his redshirt. What exactly did that show us?

That extra year cost him a big check in the nfl. Maybe that’s enough punishment.
