Dak is a senior. AJ is not. Let's give AJ at least one full season. Then you can use the following year to compare stas

Prescott was just interviewed on SEC Now(replay)... said he never grew up a LSU fan so playing tiger stadium not a big deal. Not sure of the exact context but started talking about family(Miss. State) stronger than fans.
Saw this as well. Seemed like he didn't want to go into the whole recruiting thing of why he chose State over LSU. Instead of saying they offered late in the process and I had moved on, he just politely said what he said.

Not like we don't pass on 3 stars all the time plus we run a lot if pro sets and I'm not sure how dak would fit in our system. Hell I don't even think he is that great in MSUs system and that one is pretty much perfect for him

Maybe because we recruit better athletes than Miss St does....

Same reason we missed on Cam Robinson. He knew he would start first year so he went elsewhere.

CRob would have started here. He just didn't seem all that interested from the beginning. He didn't string us along or anything, which is good on him.

To answer your question:

Dak was a prospect that had a lot of raw athletic ability. By no means was he the great player you see today.

There were other prospects in that class who were considered better than him at that point from evaluations. Now, Dak wasn't a scrub either. The coaches kept in contact but didn't offer until the week or two before signing day.

Honestly, I think Dak wanted to be at LSU, but he stuck to his word to MSU. Good for him.

LSU ended up with Mett that year, so there it is.

I was more than impressed with his decision to stick with MSU, but obviously wanted him at LSU. We all knew Rivers wouldn't ever be a factor here, but Dak didn't come on until late. Just one of those things where you can't get them all.

Good kid, good family. Wish him the best in his future.
Good rundown. Thanks.

So he would have started over Collins at LT, or Hawkins at RT? He is definitely not RG. He would not have started here his first year. He made the best decision for early playing time.

DP is JJ with a better arm... he's been mediocre against great competition. We beat him again Saturday night.

LSU was late to offer Dak.

He had already committed to Miss State. He and his family were appreciative of the early attention State paid to them. He chose not to be a flip late in the process.

It turned out to be a good decision for him. He's developed nicely in the State offense and he's the best qb they've had in some time.

ESPN Story on Dak and LSU

quote:

“I didn’t want to go to a team that had already won a championship and had been in the top 10 every year,” Dak explained. “I wanted to help a team grow and be a part of something special, and I thought Mississippi State had the best chance at the time.”

LSU, he felt, was telling him what he wanted to hear. Mullen said redshirting his first year on campus was a possibility while Miles told him he wanted him to play right away, he said.

“I feel like I’m a smart guy and I can see through bull crap,” Dak said.

“I wanted to get to where LSU and all those other schools were and beat them.”

Dak honored his commitment, that's all. We were pretty nervous when LSU came in and offered late.

To be fair on the stats listed, he split time with Russell last year most of the time, and the South Carolina game was right after he learned his mom had died.

And they don't include his rushing stats. For example, against LSU, he ran for 106 yards and a TD on 12 carries. He was the QB for 32 snaps out of 67. Against Ole Miss later in the year, he only played the last half of the fourth quarter and overtime.

If Prescott were at LSU he would get crushed by LSU fans on a regular basis and be compared to JJ. Going to a smaller school were you can win 7 games and be a hero makes players look awesome.

It sucks lsu jumped on dak late and couldn't get him but good of him to honor his commitment.

It's weird 2011 we didn't want the big running qb and the following year 2012 we wasted so much time and energy on a slower, dumber version with that fatass Liggins that couldn't even qualify.

Not saying it would of even been a possibility but who should lsu have spent more time recruiting. The talented Dak Prescott from Louisiana or that idiot Liggins from Miss.

Cool story that does not mention the late offer.
