He gave $2 mil+ to Pelini when there was no competition and made Orgeron one of the highest paid coaches in CFB when there is never a risk of him leaving.

Idk why we paid so much for Pelini but a new, lucrative contract after winning a title is standard practice.

This is not a standard practice situation. Orgeron had no leverage

No leverage? I’m sure many schools would have tried to scoop him up after going undefeated

I don’t know what to tell you but every head coach in recent memory has gotten a raise after winning a title

I’ve been saying this for a while now. All he does is overpay for everything.

Extreme overpay but the money train was going 200 mph in January. Nobody would've blinked over buying out an assistant contract back then.

Yeah I pointed out his disaster contract to Jimbo and LSU fans seriously responded by saying it was intentional to hurt the Aggies. I was downvoted into oblivion by morons on here that are so delusional that they can't see something so obvious.

The reality is Alleva was smarter than Woodward. Being stuck with an average coach like Jimbo for 10 years is way worse than the contract he gave to O.

Because complaining about Jimbo's contract to A&M is dumb. They gave him a blank check to go get the coach, who did have leverage. He got the coach.

giving O a big raise was absurd. No other school was after him.

If you are a good AD you don't sign a 10 year contract with a mediocre coach. Regardless of what happens they were not going to be able to fire him.

You say they gave him a blank check. So what? You don't put your school in a situation where in 5 years they have to fork over 38 million dollars to buyout an average coach.

Alleva was a clown who wasn’t liked or respected, couldn’t fundraise, wouldn’t communicate, was terrible at PR, ran an AD that leaked like a faucet, and was awful at reading a room.

because they’re in demand and there’s a risk of them leaving.

Not the case with O.

Nope. A good AD goes and gets the #1 guy on their wishlist.

Why not? A&M ain't close to poor.

Unless it's the situation they wanted. You think the check writers at A&M didn't know about his contract?

Was Alabama at risk of losing Saban when they gave him a raise after the 2017 season?

Saban is the best coach in college football. Any school with big dollars would love to get him.

Not a single other school, would come after O.

I asked if they were at risk of losing him. Keep in mind, he was already under contract, he got a raise to $8+ million.
