www.pollspeak.com has a few tools that can help you analyze how voters' preferences.

A quick glance suggests that if 14 voters that have left LSU off the ballot had voted LSU at 25, final rank could have been higher.

Following voters from SEC territory have left LSU off their list.
- Jon Solomon The Birmingham News (Newspaper), Birmingham, Alabama
- Chip Cosby Lexington Herald-Leader (Newspaper), Lexington, Kentucky

All other voters work in different media markets.

Go ahead .. analyze the polls and see what gems you find.

Wilner in San Jose is always good for a laugh. He has huge swings every week because he puts almost all of his emphasis on matchups and head to head. Last year BYU went from unranked in Week 1 to #2 in Week 2 because they beat OU

LSU will receive votes by all these naysayers after shutting down an overrated ACC team in the opener.

These are probably the same idiots that figured
Team A (12-1) vs a (smaller MOV) vs (weaker SOS)
was better than....
Team B (13-1) vs a (larger MOV) vs (stronger SOS) back in 2003.

These same idiots discredited and ignored THEIR OWN POLL when crowning THEIR champion as Team B played more (7 of 14 games) (50% of games) vs their AP poll as opposed to their champ, Team A who only played (3 of 13 games) and even lost to a team that received ZERO votes from the AP voters.

When you consider that TEAM B had the...
1)Best overall record,
2)Best SOS,
3)Best MOV vs all opponents,
4)Best MOV vs 2 common opponents,
5)Best bowl opponent,
6)Best resume vs any and every poll...
what should already amount to a landslide victory for Team B
but to not only ignore all of the above data, but to ignore YOUR VERY POLL as well speaks volumes about this joke of a system. .......

What possible explanation or excuse could any AP voter have to support their argument as to why they voted Team A as their champion?

Can any AP supporters (USC fans, LSU haters), simply fill in this blank.......
I voted Team A as champion because ___________.

Not one AP voter was held accountable for cheating, fraud, and character issues, for this disgraceful act, but instead was praised by the media while the media was critical of the BCS being flawed. Go figure.

I don't know why you just bring up 2003. Let's not forget Auburn in 2004.

And the FUNNY thing about 2003, is that LSU WON. The argument was against Oklahoma being there. If OK won, I could see a split national title after them losing their conference championship. However, LSU won and deserved to be there.

Craig James is one guy who needs to be evaluated as a voter. He has been part of
- SMU during its NCAA scandals
- Texas Tech case with Mike leach.

He doesn't have to be convicted in these scandals. But AP could find someone else that might be free from legal/political aspects of college football.

Local voter
Randy Rosetta
The Baton Rouge Advocate (Newspaper)
Baton Rouge, LA

is the only voter to rank Oklahoma at 1
He has Bama at 3

Has anyone read Randy's reasons for this ranking? His LSU and UNC rankings seem to be close to the mean.

Though AP poll does not count towards BCS rankings in the end, they do drive the media narrative. Any undercurrent of sympathy or dislike for a team will show up in other human polls.

The thread was about the "AP" cheaters, not the "SEC" (office, refs) cheaters.

quote:

The argument was against Oklahoma being there.
Wrong....The argument was about a system claiming an
(11-1) team vs (weaker SOS) vs (lesser MOV) were better than TWO
(12-1) teams vs (stronger SOS) vs (larger MOV).

Also consider OU's only loss came against the BIG 12 conference CHAMPION while USC's lost came against a team that received ZERO votes from the AP voters that was no where being close to any kind of champion. Now add that tidbit to the above equation and it further proves how flawed and idiotic the AP poll and voters were.

However, LSU won and deserved to be there.
We agree on this.
