Why is everyone on the rb excited about potentially adding the safety from A&M?

In his time as a starter, Gilbert struggled to make much of an impact. Pro Football Focus gave Gilbert a 65.8 defensive grade, which ranks 16th among Aggie players who have seen the field for 75-plus defensive snaps this season. Among A&M players who received 200-plus defensive snaps in 2022, Gilbert came in at 11th in PFF defensive grade (64.4).

Tackling proved to be an issue for Gilbert. Three of his four missed tackles this season came in a 48-33 road loss against the University of Miami. It helped the Hurricanes record a staggering 241 yards after the catch. Among qualifying Aggie players this season (minimum of 75 snaps), Gilbert has the worst tackling grade (27.3) and run defense grade (43.5), per PFF.
DBU has hit a new low glazing over mediocrity

He will fit right on with Kelly's scheme I guess.

I’d love to see some mediocre DBs on the field for LSU vs what we had this season

Gilbert’s shoulder was messed up and he was timid
He looks like a DB. 6’2, 180, long, no neck roll.

60 and above is average I believe. All we need is average

Gilbert is above average player, which is basically better than what we have at S now

A purrrfiect fit for LSU's new defensive philosophy.

What star rating was he coming out of hs? LSU settles for only 3*s now
Im guessing he was 4* or above coming from aTm

Mediocrity would have us in the TOP 4 playing for a chance at a National Championship.

Maybe this year. Not going forward.
I live in TX and Aggies don’t like or want Gilbert because he gets burned all the time and/or is a poor tackler. They want Jacoby Mathews, but they would love for us to take Gilbert off their hands and he doesn’t seem to be playing much lately either which a HUGE red flag.

You don't think he can improve as a Junior and Senior? A&M has had issues. They have the best talent and aren't making use of it.

Why stop there in the analysis?
How would that score rank among LSU players?

He only played half of the Miami game. He was hurt. He did give one of the worst efforts at an open field tackle I’ve seen in that game, but he had shoulder surgery immediately after the game, so you have to think that played a part in it.
Also, I don’t know where the frick PFF comes up with a run defense grade, but he played exclusively deep half or deep third. He wasn’t involved in run defense.

He might improve with good coaching. Not at LSU.

He did suffer a neck injury last year so this is understandable.
