Skenes will have Ohtani similarities in the MLB if they allow him to hit

Floridas pitcher hits and hits well

all year long. I know this will get downvoted but LSU fans are some of the only fans that are always afraid of having a pitcher hit or having a star running back return punts etc.

you don't see it much in other fanbases. LSU fans are the most paranoid fans in the country when it comes to having players get hurt. Kevin O Sullivan isn't afraid. He has his pitcher hit and he has 20+ HR's on the year. When skenes was at air force no one was afraid for his safety by not allowing him to hit. Didn't he have 20 HR's there?

Whether Skenes hits or doesn't hit doesn't matter to me. He'll bat in the MLB and his lone year at LSU when he didn't hit will be an anomaly of being the only year he didn't bat in his career.

I must have missed where Jac Caglianone is projected as the #1 (#2 at worst) prospect in the draft. Or where he has been talked about in the same sense as Strasburg and other generational talents..

Just because they play the same position, doesnt mean they are the same. I guarantee you if O'Sullivan had Skenes he wouldnt be hitting.

Protecting good talent and not misusing them, is how you keep that talent coming in.

When Skenes was at Air Force was he by far the best pitcher in the country and projected as the #1 overall pick?

Also, look at our lineup and tell me we are missing a power hitter, with a straight face

Florida needs him to hit and pitch. LSU doesn’t need Skenes to hits.

If you look at this lineup and say another power hitter is what it’s missing. Nevermind the fact you’d have to sit either Travinski or Beloso who are hitting right now for a guy that hasn’t seen live pitching in over a year.

Stop. Ohtani is one of the greatest athletes to ever step foot on a baseball field. Thinking anyone can be him is ridiculous.

Marcus Stroman and Jacob DeGrom hit in college. Maybe they are just like Ohtani too.

Does Skenes even participate in batting practice?

Tired of hearing about this. Skenes has a major league arm and a minor league bat. He won't have an intentional AB ever again in his life.

He's not draft eligible this year. But throws 99mph from the left side and is routinely hitting balls 115+ off the bat. His raw skills are incredile.

He is going to go into his Jr year as the consensus 1.1 for the 2024 draft.

It's really baffling. You'd swear they never watch other games.

It’s a risk reward thing.

How much are you really gaining with having Skenes hit over Beloso or Travinski? I do know if he were to get injured while batting this team is finished.

So are you willing to risk losing your ace pitcher for what I think is a net neutral at best bat in your lineup when you consider who would not be hitting so he can.

Hmm I wonder why.. have you seen the staff behind him? Now, let’s imagine he gets hurt swinging the bat, sliding, a collision at the plate. Let’s end this topic.

We have zero chance to win anything if Skenes gets hurt, risk doesn’t outweigh reward here.

Why let him?

Let's say "they" let him hit and Skenes rolls an ankle rounding first base. Then what?

There is relly zero upside to allowing him to hit.

Well, I figure it’s because they don’t want to risk injury. But he risks injury every time he pitches.

It’s pretty simple. NO ONE else on the team (or the NCAA really) can throw pitches like Skenes. At the same time, we have a good number of great hitters, so why risk such an exclusive pitching talent for something that isn’t really needed?

no he won't. Pitchers don't bat in the MLB anymore in either league.

This shite is as worn out as Russell Shepard throwing a pass and Trindon Holiday playing DE. It’s probably already been said, but I’m not reading multiple pages of a shite thread to see.

Funny how that is not a problem at Florida...who is ranked ahead of LSU. Cagliahone is not only their top pitcher, but also their top hitter. I guess that rule only applies to LSU.
