Right. That's exactly how you'll see it in the box score. The new pitcher would be listed as a pinch hitter and a pitcher.

LSUSPORTS.NET says OTT was the winning pitcher

My God. How long is this going to continue? There's no debate. There's no argument. There's no conversation.

The OP said that Ranaudo got the win and merely pointed out there were a few sources reporting innacurately that Ranaudo got a no-decision. End of story. Every source that has indicated anything other than a win for Ranaudo and a save for Ott is wrong, wrong, wrong. And that IS NOT lsusports.net that you linked.

So is the essence of this thread whether an appearance to the mound counts as coming in for the next inning, or whether the pitcher records an out?

This thread is full of FAIL.

I wonder if it's the same guys that criticize every player and every move by Mainieri are the ones that have no idea how to score a ballgame.

No, the link was the CBS and NCAA interactive UNOFFICIAL scoreboard from the game.

LSUsports.net has actual box scores and write ups of the game that say Ranaudo is the winning pitcher. Those links are even posted before your post.

Ott didn't come in until LSU had the lead. As far as recording an out, if Ott had given up the lead without recording an out, he would be the losing pitcher even though it would be scored as 0.0 IP.

hey jerk, it was on LSUSPORTS.NET. you calling me a liar?

go to this link and hit view for the LSU Baylor game

https://www.lsusports.net/liveStats/liveStats.dbml?SPSID=27865&SPID=2173&DB_OEM_ID=5200&

also, it is unclear who the pitcher of record would be reading the rule book. This statement
quote:

Note: Whenever the score is tied, the game becomes a new contest insofar as the winning and losing pitchers are concerned.
Would lead me to believe that the game is treated as just beginning each inning the score is tied.

NCAA RULE BOOK

Is it even possible to have a pitching change while your team is batting?

Only in the National League, when you pinch-hit for the pitcher.

It amazes me 1) that people believed Ranaudo got a ND 2) they still believe he should've gotten a ND

He completed the bottom of the ninth. When LSU scored in the top of the 10th, he was still the pitcher of record. That's fundamental baseball scoring.

Or at least since the beginning of baseball.
