re: Why does it have to be the coaches fault? Why not blame the players?

The history of the last decade plus is that the LSU team from last Saturday WILL have more players in the NFL than Arkansas, once they are eligible. Stop being deliberately obtuse. You know your argument is absurd and you're just playing word games.

Which is the more illogical position to take?

1. Previous LSU teams have had much more talent than some of their opponents yet have lost games they were supposed to win due to poor coaching. This is just another example of that.

OR

2. All of a sudden LSU stopped recruiting NFL caliber players and this year is an anomaly in that we have fewer players that will eventually play in the NFL than Arkansas has.

What happens on NSD? Les has a big party in a fancy-schmantzy hall, charges big bucks per table to enjoy the excitement of watching signed papers come in on a fax machine.

What happens at the end of the day? Les gets in front of the frenzied crowd, in front of the cameras, and says:

"Well, we did pretty good today, I guess. We signed a kid from Plano, Texas ... Billy Bob Jones, he's 6'5", 310, runs a 4.2 40 yard dash. He was the top-rated offensive tackle in the state of Texas, but in reality, he'll probably break up with his girlfriend, or flunk out, or, he's probably just not as good as his billing."

"OK, next guy, Demetrius Jenkins from New Iberia ... 6 foot three inches, 210 chiseled pounds, runs a 3.9 40 yard dash, bench presses 500 pounds. He's the top-rated defensive back in the State of Louisiana. Frankly, we don't expect much from him. We think he'll probably be dumb as a post, won't absorb our coaching, and will likely wash out."

"I want everybody here to know that I'm not excited about signing these 25 players, they wouldn't have been my choices to sign, and in fact, the Board of Supervisors dictated to me which players I could sign. I have no control over this process. So when (not if) these players stink it up, don't blame me, OKAY?"

They are not getting paid.

Have you priced a college education lately?

P.S. They just got a pay raise via an increased spending allotment.
