Why do none of our Linebackers wear the Neck Brace Thing?

Seems like at least one linebacker from UGA and Florida always wears it, and it looks pretty cool. Beckwith seems like the perfect guy to do it. Here is a picture of what I am talking about:

Cause they don't want to look like a Ninja Turtle?

I guess because most of them know how to tackle?

What's the purpose of that neckbrace? It seems like it would make a neck injury more probable. That is, you always want your head up to prevent a neck injury. It seems that neckbrace would make it more probable that your head could be in a downward position with chin to chest...which is really really bad.

I'm pretty sure this is not the reason they are used.

It's for people who are susceptible to neck stingers. It prevent ur head from being jarred back and pinching a nerve.

I never liked them because it limited my ability to look up.

I wore one in High School when I played center. I was to prevent me from getting my head rocked back at the snap.

Plus it looked awesome.
