How many pics did he throw? He's already miles ahead of Lee because at least he throws the ball out of bounds every once in a while and doesn't kick the team in the nuts by throwing a pic six! Bottom line, if your offense puts up 30 points, the defense should be able to take it from there. 30 points should be plenty!!!

if the qb throws an interception, he should be able to count on one of his 10 teammates to make a tackle
and by the way, 9 4th quarter yards against the worst defense in the SEC.........NINE!

That's because he misses 60% of his throws. Yes 60%. That's not successful for any team in any league

Colt McCot threw 18 picks. I didn't see his team quit on him????
No, but how many of those picks were demoralizing pick 6's????
I can live with an interception.......I mean, stuff happens. But NCAA leading 7 pick 6's?
You're basically saying to your defense that you spotting the other team 7pts right out of the gate.

and he STILL managed to lead LSU to wins against Auburn, Miss State and south carolina

The point was that Colt's teammates stepped up and made tackles. LSU just quit.
Those picks would not have generated points if someone had tackled the defender. But hell the D didn't tackle either so why should the O care? Right?

Do people realize that ALL pics could end up pick 6s? I mean it's as if you guys think there's something unique here other than dumb luck.

Lets be real,
Charles Scott Beat Miss St......the stats dont lie AND he threw yet another interception that game. That game was closer than it should have been at home. There were times where we should have and could have score more but the drive was stalled on failed 3rd down conversions.
The defense beat South Carolina......which is the ONLY game the defense actually showed up for all year.
Auburn.....yea, I'll give it to Lee. He stepped up this game BIG time, no doubt. He was still young wide eyed and showed flashes of outright brilliance against a still talented and tough defense in Auburn. Still though, Charles Scott was a beast. But in the end I have to give to Lee for making some Elway/Favre like passes in the clutch to beat Auburn.

JJ has still yet to have a game statistically as good as the game Lee had against miss State

the defense had a 2nd half comeback against the statistically best defense in the conference at that time? funny....i missed rahim alem running the offense and leading LSU to 14 2nd half points

Um yea, thats because Lee has played 8 games to JJ's 1. He's had more opportunities to put up stats like that. So whats your point on that? Still the running game help created those stats since Charles Scott absorbed their defense's attention by chewing up chunks of yards. They had to respect the run.

NO, but the defense COMPLETELY shut down their offense which scored 17 in the first half leading us 17-10 in the second half. The defense held them to 0 pts and few first downs. Which created better field position and more opportunities on offense.
Add to that the Keiland and Scott combo in the backfield that was killing South Carolina on defense. They couldnt stop it all second half.

Let's be real.
The only reason Charles Scott was a beast, because the D had to play against the long ball.
When Ark & Ole Miss saw JJ missing on 60% of his passes. It was lockdown against the run.
Proof of that fact:
LSU rushed for 146 1st half yds vs Ark, and only 15 in the 2nd half. They made JJ throw, and he couldn't.

Miss State was Lee's 2nd game. In JJ's second game against the worst defense in the SEC in what is amounting to a meaningless game....Lee outperformed JJ in a BIG way

wait a minute...for JJ, when you score 30 points in a game you did your job. BUT, in lee's case scoring 14 points in a half isn't the case?
Posted on 12/2/08 at 1:00 pm to LSUfan4444
Lee led LSU back to victory when down 11 against Auburn, and barely gets credit for that.......JJ gets no blame for failing to do what lee did. (failed comeback against ole miss) NONE!
in their 2nd game Lee outperformed JJ in every categry against a better defense and still, he gets no credit and JJ gets hailed for less of a performace in a loss against an inferior defense
does this really seem consistant to you?

It will be fun to watch them battle in the off season for the spot next year. Money says RS redshirts like he already has said he would. I also put money Lee starts the Bowl game and next season.

Great point on it being Lee's 2nd game. Im thinking of the here and now so you got me on that that key point. However, its still more games than JJ. Lee basically had the entire Auburn game and the Miss St game to himself. Add to that significantly more playing time in the Appy St game than JJ. Its still more significant snaps than JJ.
JJ has only started one game without knowing the whole playbook. Lee has an obvious advantage over JJ in that regards.

Im neither assigning blame or credit to Lee in this case at all. Im simply saying that in the game against South Carolina the defense shut down the South Carolina offense which was beating us 17-10 in the first half. The defense held them to 0 points and a limited number of first downs in the second half allowing us to pull ahead 24-17.
The game ball has to go to the defense that game. Just like the blame has to go to the defense for losing that game against Arkansas.

I gave LEE mad credit for that game against Auburn. Absolutely he deserves alot of credit if not most of the credit for winning that game.
But you got to credit him at least for helping put us 11 down with that poor pass that led to his first pick 6 of the year. But given the circumstances I'll give him a pass on that one.
JJ had us up 30-14!!. Not down 14-30...up 30-14 in the second half against an SEC team on the road. Thats a HUGE difference from being down 31-3...at home....against freakin Troy.
JJ doesnt play in the defensive backfield. If you remember it was two big pass plays that made it go from 30-14 to 30-21 and from 30-24 to 30-31. Not exactly JJ's fault.

Let's pretend youre at the LSU game on friday, screaming for Jarrett Lee to come in and play...
You would be LAUGHED at.
I'm sure in that crazy head of yours that it makes sense to keep playing the guy that his team doesn't give two shits about and have quit on for one reason or another.
I'm sure it makes sense to play the QB who leads the nation in pick 6's, and has thrown at least one in almost every game he's played in.
Yes, you would be laughed right out of the stadium.
you can spin it however you want to, but JJ did fine on friday with very little run support.
In fact, he did pretty damn good for his first start ever, not throwing a single pick, and throwing the ball away when the play broke down.

Go back and look at how long JJ and the offense was on the field in the fourth quarter....not very long...i'd say at the most 3 times...and once was with less than a minute and a half left to play and once with a play call of 1st down run....second down run...third down pass(which was dropped by dixon i believe) and then 4th down punt. I'm in no way saying that is gospel and that it happened play by play like that...but that's a bogus stat seeing how the defense kept JJ off the field.

so, let me get this straight. a lack of time of posession is now not the fault of the offense?

i haven't seen anyone get as much sympathy as JJ since little Jessica fell down the well
I mean seriously people. In the same thread i read it is Lee's fault his 10 teammates didn't feel like tackling after he threw a pick and now I read JJ is a victim of a lack of offensive time of posession when he is the quarterback running that offense.
