Was it simply a better deal at College Station?

Ask Skip Bertman. he's the one who let 10-15 more national championships walk out the door

Skip dissed the track program and caused him to succumb to A&M's evil offer.

Story goes he came back to BR with the team after winning NC #363 and there was nobody there to greet or congratulate them at the airport. That was the straw that broke the camel's back.

Okay, well Joe Alleva is at the men's golf NCAA championships. this still falls in Bertman's lap.

Also the fact Skip couldn't get some boosters when oil prices were absurdly high to write a check for locker rooms might have had something to do with it

Skip couldn't justify paying Pat Henry more when they lost the most money in the athletics program.

I tend to agree with Skip.

Henry wanted an updated indoor track facility with a banked track with locker rooms. Skip said no, A&M said yes.

$$$ that simple. Tract generates little income and LSU made a business decision. The only people that worry about it are LSU homers that need something to bitch about. 99.99999% percent of the population have never heard of him.

I've heard Hannagriff say he didn't like that the football coach got everything he asked for, while he couldn't get the slightest upgrades/was taken for granted.

Reportedly Henry's resignation went "Give me gaiety or give me death!"

Next stop: College Station!

Hey Skip, why couldn't you keep the 2 best HC's in LSU Sports history on campus? (Nick & Pat)

Didn't want to pay them what they were worth to the school.

You get what you pay for.

BTW, stereotypes all have some truth in reality.

You are a moron. Who cheaped out on Nick? He didn't leave b/c of money. There wasn't any amount of money that was going to keep him. Nick had a blank check from Bertman and Emmeret while he was at LSU.

Henry is a different story, but not a wrong decision. How much money do you donate to the track program. How many track meets did you attend in 2000? How many this year?

I can't disagree with Skip on pouring money into something that would NEVER return the investment money wise.

Would it be great to keep winning track championships like Henry did here? Sure but tell me how losing money on track and field is worth it

Ding, ding, winner! This was what it balled down to. LSU decided that winning track championships when it really came down to it was not important. Decided to sink that money into, softball and other smaller sports.

Losing money in track wasn't worth the reward of winning championships. Name the last time one of you watch NCAA track and field on tv or in person? A&M decided it was worth it for them to win championships at all cost. Guess they figured that was the only shot they had at winning a championship in something
