There was an agreement
McMahon out after this season
The General shall return
In choosing to give myself 24 hours where I believe you have inside knowledge. It will be good for my mental health. Then I will come back to reality and the moribund SEC campaign we seem to be waging.

Honestly asking. Is there a rule or is it just more of a by-law?
He can and its possible

A sweet 16 appearance would spark so much life into the program.
Yeah, he was too loose with his obvious cheating, but now everyone is openly doing it (and it’s morally okay and legal), so does anyone actually give a frick?

Wade needs to be hired after this season. If we wait too long someone else will snatch him up.
If Texs opens up (possible) and we are not open then its a very good possibility he lands at Texas. Their boosters have already begun courting him.

Also for those dissing Scott, firing Wade was 100% Tate's decision and Scott essentially had no say in it.

Fckin hilarious....we can't beat junior high teams and some ppl say, "he's only good to the sweet 16, do not want".

You are asking about Wade like he is a hot commodity and every D1 AD is trying to hire him. It’s not Scott only that isn’t interested.
His first contract at McNeese was 200k (yes he got a raise for year 2 up to 700k) it’s not like AD’s are lined up to hire him.
Wade earned this purgatory. Will he get another shot at a mid major or a power conf? Probably.
But the list of AD’s that will put their career on the line and trust Wade just doesn’t exist right now.

LSU was the second tier name brand that had to take the fall for the recruiting practices of the blue bloods.
Wade needed to be more careful in his recruiting approach but his personality type was perfect to be the fall guy.
LSU cut a deal with the NCAA and you don’t rehire the sacrificial lamb.
LSU has to ride the current coach as part of the public appearance and face of cheating. The current coach is part of LSU’s public penance.

The venom some have on here for WW is just beyond understanding. The guy was all in for LSU. He brought more excitement, fun and interest to LSU than in the last 20 years! He won an SEC title for gods sake! Did he make a mistake? yes. Did other big time coaches make the same mistake absolutely! Did anything happen to them? NO! WHY? because there ADs and schools nutted up and told the NCAA to kick rocks and they did nothing. LSU on the other hand panicked and fired WW. It was a poor decision.

Wade is under a 2 year show cause that ends after this season is over in June. Thats why no big name has run out to hire him. He has a lot of recruiting restrictions and other things he has to answer to the NCAA about until the end of this season.
He was suspended the first 10 games at McNeese last year, and again has recruiting restrictions on top of that until close to the end of June.
His entire team at McNeese was basically portal'd in.

Putting their career on the line? Schools are openly paying players. You think they give a damn about his scandal anymore?

Scott Woodward is a business man. I’m sure he can see that hiring WW would be a great business decision for LSU. There’s also a reason why WW decided to stay in Louisiana and is at a school like McNeese. Surely if it weren’t for that reason, then he’d have gone to plenty of other places before staying put in the boot, and coaching at McNeese.

That’s not the issue and if you believe it is you are lost.
AD’s, school President’s etc want to hire folks they can trust. Folks that will not be insubordinate. Wade could have survived and thrived had he worked with the administration. He didn’t it’s not the NCAA violations.

Doubtful. LSU was overly concerned with optics. Should have just said FU to the media and ncaa.

Wade's actions were just above and beyond dumb with his recruiting cheating. I know they all cheated, but he used his wife's checking account and that was on top of the wire-tap bad press. Court of public opinion is a thing and the NCAA had us in their crosshairs.
Then, I'm pretty sure there was a deal made between Scott Woodward and Mark Emmert (whose step-children/children are married to each other), that LSU would be spared almost entirely, including football for other transgressions, if we let Wade go. This is what my friends that are very involved with TAF have alluded to. Will Wade also probably acknowledges how reckless he was. He isn't a dumb guy.
People forget that McMahon was seen as a solid hire and the contract terms being so long are because we couldn't get anyone reputable to come here without some guarantees with a potential NCAA hammer coming down. Thankfully, that hammer never came, likely due to us holding up our end of the bargain and ditching Will Wade.
It should also be noted that his contract, at this point, really isn't bad at all and if we continue to lose, we absolutely can buy him out at the end of the year.
McMahon has recruited well and the program is in fine condition other than the W/L columns, but he appears to not have the team as well-coached as we had hoped at this point. This is his put up or shut up year and if he doesn't turn it around, we'll be looking for a new coach. Lots of great options out there not named Will Wade too, but I'd welcome him back.
