Why can’t we also lineup under center?

I get it, it’s 2025, teams have to be able to operate out of the gun. That’s fine.
However, if NFL teams are lining up under center as well, shouldn’t that tell you there is still some utility in that as well? Why is it we never line up under center? Why is it that we continually try these extremely slow developing zone running plays in which our fatasses can’t reach to get to their spots and constantly get beat across their face and our backs do a horrible job of reading anyway?
Another thing, you can still run power out of the gun. Do we even try that?
I’m not saying that I want to go back to the Les Miles stupidity of offensive philosophy. But what we’re doing now is every bit as stupid as what Miles did.
Can we just fricking TRY something different?

We used a fullback one time, gained 50 yards, and haven’t turned to it a single time since
Mind blowing how sloan is allowed to be this bad at his job

IMO, we absolutely should at this stage of the season. Mix it up, but under center is much better for play action to hold LB's and deception from handoffs and rollouts...moving the pocket. the fact that we never move the pocket, and allow the dline to tee off and run straight at Nuss and back our olinemen into his face, makes if very difficult to step up into a rusher dominating your blocker.
We should commit to more power football and sweeps. Shotgun with no RB totally tells the defense the play coming is a pass. No fear of QB draw at all.
I hope BK has the sense to implement some under center plays into our offense....remember that ONE running play, that wasn't from our normal shotgun formation .

some NFL teams barely line up under center
it’s fine and it’s great for running the ball but I think we’d end up just beeing too transparent run/pass and your QB has to be comfortable making read while taking a drop, which isn’t the easiest thing to install kidnseason

Dumbest shite I’ve ever head. Just because you don’t have a mobile qb doesn’t mean you can have a scheme tat allows you to run the ball successfully. Several teams at every level have pro style passers that can run the ball.

What you’re making it sound like is you have to have Jayden Daniels in the offense for it to work. Which isn’t the case. What is the case is our rushing attack since Kelly has been here has been the same, and we still can’t do it without having Daniel’s.

The offense they are trying to run absolutely has to have a running QB. It's pointless to run this offense without it.

Yeah we all know this. It really isn’t that difficult to implement a power running game blocking wise. A lot of it is just saying “we’re trying to run through this gap, turn your back to that gap and move the guy across from you out of the way.” Obviously there’s some more nuance to it than that but if we can’t zone block worth a frick, why not attempt to just block the mf in front of you instead? Why are we so married to zone rushing? WE CANT DO IT

At this point they should try the wishbone! Just try something!

Hmm… sounds like that’s exactly what we need.

Ah yes, we definitely aren’t transparent as it in right now. I’m sure opponents have no idea what we are going to do offensively!

Sounds like a great thing to install over the offseason, especially when you have a veteran QB that already knows the offense and you were dead last in your conference in rushing the year before.

Going under center isn’t saving this offense. Also it would make it harder for the qb to read his progressions and the pass protection would break down quicker. It would literally be a waste of time. Brian Kelly runs a spread offense and has for over two decades it’s not changing.

Les Miles offense? I would take it!
Although it was maddening that he would not evolve with the times, his O-line ALWAYS knew how to push people around and rarely missed blocking assignments.
Let's be realistic, he was able to beat pretty much everyone, pretty consistently, except Saban. Saban had the athletes to match up man for man, and Les couldn't break the mold to try something different.
That said, if we had a Les Miles offensive line right now, we'd be able to run the damn ball.... period...
