Here is him saying Schmidt's name (he says it in about 5 seconds after hitting play). He apparently doesn't make the hard "ch" but it seems like a very minor thing for the anyone to get their panties in a bunch

If the family pronounces it in some way that varies from the very, very widely accepted pronunciation it would have been included in the pronunciation guide.

The one good thing to come out of the atrocious baseball this past week was learning that Chris Blair received word of this thread, as he - for the first time in over one year - called a game where he correctly pronounced “Schmidt.”
