Devonta Smith came back because he wanted to improve his draft stock.

Not really a good comparison.

He’s projected a top 10 pick by multiple outlets. Also has an NC

If the Alabama "process" is to win a championship and be a high draft choice, Chase has accomplished one goal and will protect himself to accomplish the second.

We don't have a better program than Alabama but Chase and LSU have accomplished more than Alabama in very short time since Chase signed in February 2018. Chase has nothing left to prove but players everywhere else except maybe Clemson *do* still have to prove themselves.

Bama is better managed than LSU. Starts at the top.
As much as I hate to say it there's some truth to that. Bama would never let a guy like Ryan Clark back in the program. They would never have put up with Les Miles for as long as LSU did. Finally, there's no way in hell that they would ever let a guy like Glen Guilbeau cover them. And I HATE 'Bama. But they don't let things stand in the way of what's most important to them.

Maybe "pay to stay" rather than "pay to play".

Lol Saban had assistant coaches jumping ship left and right because he’s such an insufferable arse. The guy stepped over the body of a Dolphins player mid-seizure because he didn’t want to look soft to the team. Lane Kiffin called the environment like a morgue. Alabama before Saban had horrible coaching hires.

We had one elite top 5 player opt out and it’s the right decision. Move on

Because Saban would have put somebody like Ryan Clark in a grave for tampering with his team

Because LSU has some toxic POS former players.

Kind of like when Saban ousted DJ Fluker after he admitted he took money from agents at Alabama? Never would a guy like Luther Davis have existed in or around the program at Bama....oh wait

Maybe the Alabama players are afraid of repercussions from their head coach? That particular coach's recommendations and words to NFL mgmt carry a lot of weight. He strikes me as a vindictive sort. I don't know this for a fact, but perhaps.

I do not have any reason to believe there there is any better run FB program than what LSU puts out there, and I think the proof is definitely in the pudding. Coach O identified stumbling blocks that were in the way of this program being championship level and fixed them in very short order.

Let Chase go, and I wish him well. He was great last year, and I suspect he will have a very nice pro career. But the focus now is which player(s) LSU has available to put out there, not the ones this coaching staff doesn't.

Because Bama pays more than the NFL. No worries if they can’t make the league.

Does anyone think we will see a wave of players opting out? The next NFL draft will be interesting.
