Why are you people so high on Joe Burrow?

Not sure who these you people are that you are annoyed with.

But are you annoyed at your fellow Tiger fans who can actually watch what Burrow has done and put 3 and 1 together and figure out who likely will be better?

Or are you annoyed at people like me, who have rooted for the Buckeyes for years and know a good player when when see one, and are now rooting for him and his new team, the Tigers?

Or are you annoyed that he's an Iowa born, Ohio raised kid who has grown up around a football coach dad his whole life and has a great football IQ, just not an SEC one?

Or are you annoyed with those three LSU players who went to SEC media days and said good things about him that you don't want to believe?

Just curious, are you from the Bayou State, or from Missouri, the Show Me State, since you don't want to believe anything till you see it for yourself?

You got that right. That’s why there are idiots on this board who think Ed O was a great hire. Lololololololol

Burrow needs a haircut, Brennan needs a solid meal, Narcisse needs transfer paperwork.

Not from the Show Me state, but I've learned this is a good route to take.

We've had a lot of guys that were supposed to blow up. I don't blame others one bit for maintaining a skeptical eye on this QB situation.

For me, it's partially the hype that's a little out of control. This guy is not going to be a dominant QB in the toughest conference in CFB when he couldn't beat out Haskins at OSU. If he's a game manager that can keep turnovers low, I'd be happy. Just don't lose games.

Additionally, I'm more concerned by who's handling him. I just don't think someone that hasn't installed and run his own offense in 20 years can come into the toughest conference in CFB and have sustained success, especially when there's a meddling, insecure HC that's his boss. Just cannot wrap my brain around that.

You don't get something for nothing in this world. Good OCs run good offenses because they've worked for years honing their craft. You don't just get top notch results by slapping a bunch of ingredients together in a single offseason.

Believe me, the ones you see that are so supportive of him today and expect the world are going to break out their pitchforks the minute he throws an INT.

We gave 3 QBs the whole spring to separate from one another and none couldn’t.

All looked terrible in the spring game. It’s not so much people are high on burrow as it is how bad the others are.

Because he’s probably the best QB candidate we have.

Seems like you get it for the most part. Plus their fans rave about him and think he should have been their starter last year and this year

Good point, but this is not all:

Even the Ohio St. media guys said that he is absolutely starter quality material at Ohio State(and they routinely put great playmakers under center). They also said that if not for injury, he and Dwayne Haskins were neck and neck for the starter job.

I’m tempering my hopes, but I can’t help thinking he will be really good for us. He’s gonna surprise a lot of people with his legs also

Because he has the tools. Meyer seems to value mobility above anything else. OSU has QBs that are more mobile than Burrow and Burrows injury didn’t help his cause last year

A little Ohio State history for you, last year Haskins didn't beat Burrow for backup OSU QB, Burrow was the definite winner, till he broke a bone in his throwing hand in fall camp, and Haskins got to be backup by default.

When Burrow recovered from his injury, Meyer didn't want to have a mid-season competition, even though Haskins had his moments of not doing all that well in games. So Haskins got to come in and win the Michigan game, giving him the tiebreaker for this year's QB competition.

Haskins did not not beat Burrow in the this year's Spring game, if anything it was the other way around.

Meyer said the two were neck and neck, and I'm betting Meyer didn't tell Burrow he lost, but instead let's see how fall camp comes out, and Burrow, not wanting to risk tieing and losing, left.

Read what Bill Bender from The Sporting News said about Burrow, Haskins, OSU and LSU if you don't believe me.

It's O's fault Narcisse tore his knee twice in high school and Brennan is 180 lbs soaking wet?

I'll never understand the obsession with Brennan's weight. Does weight affect accuracy? Does weight affect the ability to read defenses? Does weight affect pocket presence (especially in spring where you aren't at risk of contact)? Does weight affect command of the playbook? Does weight affect leadership?

All this spring, he's not been hit, but yet still couldn't win the job.

The weight is only an issue with his ability to withstand a season of real game pounding. But practice? No affect at all- and he still couldn't win the job.

We can quibble over details but the fact is he did not beat out Haskins this offseason, did he? And he didn't think he would or he would still be there, right?

In any event, that's not my biggest reservation about this entire situation. Burrow will be led by an OC that hasn't run his own offense in 20 years.

You can't just throw a patchwork offense with players that don't know how to operate within it, players that weren't necessarily recruited to run it and have success in this conference.

From film I've seen, Joe is better than anyone we got. Looks pretty darn accurate too. But he needs time to develop...the real payoff for us will be in 2019.

All fair points. Brennan did not exhibit any poise in the spring game. Looked overwhelmed.
